Sr. N by Natura

It’s a good fragrance; it smells like a barbershop with a touch of damp forest and spice. If you enjoy vintage scents this one is for you.

One of Natura’s worst I suppose. I don’t know if my relative’s sample had expired but it literally smelled like sweat.

Mature clean and fresh scent. I love it. It can be worn on any occasion.

Mr N has a very barbershop vibe with warm and sweet touches but mostly (90%) it’s fresh and earthy due to the vetiver. It’s for universal use with correct projection and longevity and it’s worth it for the price.

Like many designer brands have their vintage perfumes still in production (Chanel Pour Monsieur Dior Eau Sauvage etc.) Natura hasn’t been left behind with this Mr N from 1979. It’s an honest neat and retro scent that gives you the look of a clean man. I don’t see it as a compliment generator because it’s lightyears away from the Natura prototype we all know (ambery sweet strong woods). It’s a scent from another era but very pleasant; this doesn’t smell ‘old’ but rather like a tidy person like the colognes of the past. The opening is citrus-herbal and impactful. Then in the heart and dry-down it remains herbal-green with vetiver without the initial lemon. The vanilla base gives it a herbal-sweet touch. The longevity is moderate. If you like vintage perfumery buy it blind; I did that and I regret nothing. It’s a misunderstood gem in the catalogue where it’s underrated for being old but its longevity and performance are better than several current perfumes.

I think many criticisms are because it’s from the 70s but that’s a mistake; it’s a Natura classic and classics always work. Obviously those who wore them when young are now ageing and one associates it with older people but it’s a gem at an incredible price recommended for those over 40 for that vintage scent (not old). It has a charming freshly-cut grass aroma; it doesn’t bother or invade. In my case I’ve received compliments. The patchouli and vetiver give it good longevity. It’s not a barbershop scent but it has pleasant lavender like BBB Fragrance. For people who like to collect vintage/classic scents or who due to age are looking for something discreet and pleasant with good performance.

Of course, it’s for serious, formal gentlemen with that short haircut, for the ‘old-school’ lovers.

The citrus lasts longer than usual until the vetiver appears, which isn’t earthy; perhaps the vanilla and patchouli control it. It’s a vintage perfume; I don’t know if it’s barbershop, but in the end, it smells like laundry soap, something intrusive. It lasts 5 or 6 hours and then sticks to the skin. The projection is low, fresh and initially lemony, then sharp due to that soap that could make you sneeze. It’s not for conquering or attracting attention; it leaves an impression of cleanliness, of someone who takes care of themselves. It’s a ‘neat’ perfume. They say it’s the worst from Natura, but I think it’s an unfair judgment. In my opinion, it performs well. It’s not for young people seeking sweetness or ambroxan. I see it for a 50-year-old type (like me) who goes out to buy vegetables in a wicker basket, chats with the neighbour or talks about the weather as if the world were better. Once at the supermarket, he comes out with leek leaves in the bag. Is it worth it? In Argentina, there are better options for that price. ADDENDUM: After 25 hours, it’s still there, very stuck to the skin. Another pleasant surprise: its persistence. Vetiver?

I don’t think it generates compliments or is conquering; it leaves an impression of neatness, of someone who takes care of themselves. They often call it Natura’s worst, but that is an unfair judgment. In my opinion, it fulfils its purpose. It isn’t for young people seeking sweetness, but for someone around fifty who goes shopping for vegetables with a wicker basket, chats with the neighbour, or discusses the weather. Is it worth it? The mix of lemon, vanilla and patchouli at the beginning smells like the opening of the current Habit Rouge. Then, in the heart phase, it becomes more herbal and reminds me of Kaiak Expediçao from the same brand. Although it has classic notes, it feels modern; it’s an all-rounder (perhaps a bit formal). Good option for everyday wear, accessible price and great performance in trail and longevity. Good proposal from Natura, I’d love to try the original formula.

I see it as formal, with an herbal opening, sweet and citrus notes. I sense lavender in the heart and vanilla at the end, with a classic chypre dry-down, a bit bitter but charming. At first, I didn’t like it much; it sounded intrusive due to the lavender, but the curious thing is that I couldn’t stop smelling the sample and it captivated me more and more. Today it’s part of my daily perfumes for work, evoking mystery in its sombre, melancholic seriousness.

Intense green citrus fragrance, very well integrated, with the velvety note of patchouli, a pleasant surprise, really.
