Tears by Comme des Garcons is a musky floral woody fragrance for women and men. Introduced in 2026, it is the work of perfumer Paul Guerlain.
It explores green, iris-like and earthy accords alongside woody, herbal and white floral touches, settling into a powdery, musky dry-down with a lightly spiced freshness.
At the top, galbanum, sage and Ambrettolide set the tone. The galbanum is sappy and precise, the sage feels cool and herbaceous, and Ambrettolide supplies a sheer musk that softens the edges.
In the middle, jasmine, flouve and orris root come forward. Jasmine lifts with pale floral light, flouve suggests mown grass, while orris root provides the talcum powder character.
Underneath lie hay, vetiver, cypriol (nagarmota) and musk. Hay gives a dry, straw-like warmth, vetiver contributes earth and timber, cypriol adds woody depth, and musk ensures a mellow close.
The result is restrained and architectural rather than lush, true to the Comme des Garcons approach. A fragrance of fields and dust, green at first then increasingly soft and powdery.
Suited to wearers drawn to earthy greens, soft orris powder and sheer musk who prefer a quiet, unisex style.
