Absolutely brilliant. It brings back incredible memories. A few years ago, I bought a sandalwood and turmeric soap in India that I was obsessed with but could never find again; this smells exactly the same. It’s a brutal blend of resin, sandalwood, and cardamom with an almost imperceptible hint of vanilla. It doesn’t last all day, but I think that’s perfect because the scent can become heavy over time. I’ve worn it in both cold and heat without any issues. I’d recommend testing it before buying, although I’m utterly fascinated by it 😍🕉️ 100% recommended 🕉️🕉️🕉️
It’s a delight, smelling a little gourmand despite what they say. Plus, it’s a rare sandalwood—creamy with an animalic touch that makes it incredibly tasty and attractive.
It reminded me so much of the discontinued ‘Dries Van Noten’ by Frederic Malle, just a touch sweeter at the start. It was one of my favourites, especially for the memory it evoked of a very special person who is no longer with us. It was like when someone smells a perfume they aren’t wearing; perhaps the scent of their job lingers on their skin. It was curious because, besides, he shared the same profession as Van Noten. If it were still available, I’d choose Malle as I find him more consistent and long-lasting, although this is an Amouage with 30% pure, aged oils (I’m not sure if it’s effective or just marketing). The opening features creamy, woody notes over a lily base, all dancing in a cloud of spicy sandalwood which is the centre in the first few minutes. Spicy, sweet, creamy, and woody accords mixed together. Something strange but interesting.
