Ébène Fumé by Tom Ford is an oriental woody fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2021, this olfactive composition was created by perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux. Upon release, the scent unfolds with incense, palo santo, black pepper, and violet leaves; the heart reveals leather, labdanum, cade oil, Egyptian papyrus, and rose; while the base settles on resins, ebony wood, and guaiac wood.

Buy blind. It felt like a work of art to me: I detect plenty of palo santo with woods and incense in the base. The only drawback is that, although it lasts quite a while, the sillage is moderate and it stays close to the skin quickly. All in all, it’s worth it; it’s already one of my favourites.

It smells wonderful and has real quality; it’s woody, amber with a herbal touch, like healing balms or esoteric shop incense. I see it for formal events; it’s rich, but the trail and longevity are limited. It projects for only the first 30 minutes, then you have to get close. Scent 8, Longevity 6, Sillage 7, Originality 7, Quality 8.

One of the best I wear; it invites compliments. That palo santo, ebony, spices, and incense project personality; it’s for mature noses. Simply superb.
I tried it yesterday and the first impression is spectacular; a well-crafted, balanced scent. You can tell the ingredients are high quality. It’s woody, mature, with leather and incense. One of the best I’ve tried. I won’t judge the performance as I don’t own a bottle, but a colleague calls it superb and he’s right. As for whether it’s worth $400, I don’t think so.
It smells to me of old wooden cupboards, burnt pine resin, and aged timber; it’s a real treat.

It’s like entering a large house filled with aromatically captivating and deep wood. Lustre-toned luxury, opaque and rough at the same time. Very refined and of sublime taste. Attention to detail is in every note; woods, resins and incense are savoured separately. Definitely reminds me of Black Afgano by Nasomatto, but here there’s no predominant note, all play their part, with Palo Santo being the key to its charm. It’s not an easy aroma nor for every occasion; one needs experience to appreciate it, it goes beyond a simple ‘smells good’. It’s a luxury to contemplate its quality and beauty. A perfume everyone should know, exclusive in its aroma, that stays in the memory. It must be used in situations that deserve it. It’s purely lucid, exemplary, refined and beautiful, to define your status and keep people at a distance. Not youthful, it requires maturity, personality, class, elegance, finesse and the bearing of a made man, solvent and secure. Purely social and nocturnal use. It has a peculiar and sensual charm. My signature scent. I love it, I’ve never tried anything similar. It’s a woody smell with that unique sweetness that can’t be described. Totally unisex fragrance although not suitable for everyone. For me, the most special thing about my nose.
Literally smells like carpentry and joinery. Even when drying, it leaves a varnish sensation (nothing aggressive). The trail is weak but present (the nature of the ingredients doesn’t allow for a powerful trail), but that sensation of smelling old furniture is wonderful.
Ébène Fumé is a dark, elegant woody fragrance, with a pleasant presence of leather, resins and incense, emanating a stately elegance. I like it very much, but its weak point, as in almost all the house, is the price, quite high. Despite this, few alternatives exist that resemble this calibre. I invite you to try it and draw conclusions. It’s a strong recommendation that will surely be greatly appreciated.
What a perfume spectacle! Wow! I’m in love, I smelled it two days ago at a department store and easily bring its scent to mind. I love the palo santo smell and it predominates here. In my opinion it’s unisex, for bold women who like different things, with character and who want to make an impact, not to go unnoticed. In men, it would be super sexy. In short, it’s an aroma I’d want to smell on my partner. I want it, no ifs or buts, and wouldn’t hesitate to share it to enjoy it on him too.
I tried it a few days ago and at first I wasn’t sure what the smoky herbal aroma reminded me of, then I remembered it literally smells like the incense used by priests in churches. It’s an extraordinary smoky herbal (palo santo). Palo santo makes the smokiness different from others in the house like Tobacco Vanille or Tuscan Leather, as it is perfectly balanced. After an hour, it’s enjoyed even more… and its longevity exceeds 10 hours…. Highly recommended for cool or cold climates with dark clothing. Suitable for over 40s in special or elegant occasions. Fun fact: a little got on a polyester jacket and after 7 days, the jacket still smelled identical to STRAIGHT TO HEAVEN BY KILLIAN…
