Wonderful floral. At first the jasmine is strong, but with the hours it becomes soft and clean. It has moderate sillage and acceptable longevity. I would wear it in spring or even winter. Of all the florals tried, it is one of the most authentic without being cloying.
Of Lutens’ fragrances, A la Nuit is the one that I am most passionate about. It is an oriental floral with the most accomplished natural jasmine I have tried: warm, sweet and with seductive nocturnal touches. It smells like the jasmine of the plant at midnight in summer, on holiday. It is more feminine, but works well by day or night, with semi-formal or formal style. It is not for school or shopping, it would be a waste. It suits any age if you are looking for something seductive and classic. A vegetal, natural and very well-executed jasmine.
I think it is the most beautiful thing I have ever smelled.
I live in Paraguay, where houses and streets smell of jasmine and bitter orange. In summer, with the heat and the north wind, the jasmine trees release their perfume in all its splendour; it is the perfect night. I waited months to bring it, as it is not sold here and is expensive. When I arrived, I opened it with the little cap and the atomiser and I could not believe it: it was as if a magician had captured the summer nights of my country. Pure magic, real jasmine, nothing synthetic. That is Serge Lutens.
I would like to ask for a sample before buying it… although I know I am going to fall in love with these jasmine notes.
A la Nuit is pure jasmine with a sweet base. Although the floral note is potent, the perfume floats lightly, far from those dense white florals. It is not innocent, but sensual, cool and distant. It is minimalist, perhaps too much. It suits men, although I use it little. I think it shines more on a spring or summer night.
