This Alien flanker is an extra option for summer, thanks to its citrus notes which make it fresher and cleaner than the EDP or EDT. It probably won’t suit everyone; the opening is softly citrusy. I would have liked to smell more ginger, but I can’t detect a trace. The base is similar to the EDP, which I prefer to this flanker, and a bit like the original EDP that I adore. Longevity is around 5 hours on my skin. It’s fresher than the previous ones, slightly soapy, which is why I say it smells clean. It didn’t surprise me at all. So far I’ve used it this summer and don’t plan to buy any more bottles.
I bought this perfume today because I loved it. It’s the second Thierry Mugler fragrance I own; before, their scents and I were flirting but never clicked. I tried to make Angel and Alien work for me, but failed: I can’t stand Angel and Alien seemed intense and strange, so I never gave them a chance on my skin. Everything changed with Womanity, so controversial and different, that when I tried it I was convinced and now it’s in my collection. Today I saw this flanker and couldn’t resist testing it on blotter: it was a pleasant surprise, and on the skin it stayed wonderful. The top notes are clearly ginger and hyssop; it feels fresh, floral, revitalising yet slightly spicy, all at once. It’s youthful, cheeky and cheerful. In the heart notes, a very light freesia is noticeable, and the woody base has the right touch of amber that doesn’t make it heavy, but does give it a slightly masculine vibe (I like perfumes like this because they suit me). Although it’s not identical, it resembles its mother. The trail is perceptible but not intrusive, and longevity is acceptable, around 5-6 hours, not as immense as the original. Plus, the bottle is beautiful. I’ll use it a lot this hot season and think it’s an excellent option if you’re looking for a lighter, fresher version, or if the original seems excessive to you as it does to me.
I just bought it; it smells strong yet fresh, ideal for hot climates. It has a very pleasant, harmless soapy scent and lasts a long time. I’d give it a 7 out of 10.
