Alien Eau Sublime by Mugler

It’s the freshest version of Alien, yet remains a recognisable flanker. At first, it smells of narcotic white flowers on the verge of decomposition, with indole, but it’s less invasive and carries a touch of creamy lemon. I don’t detect any specific white flower, but rather a blend of jasmine and orange blossom. The dry down is very similar to the original (cashmere and amber to musk), but with an extra of vanilla and lemon giving it a gourmand twist. The projection is good, though not as invasive as the EdP; the longevity, however, is just as potent. I’d place it between Alien EdT and Extraordinaire. I already own the latter, but Sublime has pleased me more for being creamier. It’s a very feminine and youthful perfume, with a flirtatious note, suitable for any occasion and pleasant weather, though perhaps too dense for the hottest summers. This Alien is a calm bloke, less intense than the original and super friendly; it’s worn without thinking about how exotic it might be. It’s a bath of radioactive light, luminous and floral with a citrus touch at the start. It’s not tropical; it’s radioactive. It doesn’t invade but captivates. On my skin, the white flowers linger with vanilla and amber; honestly, it smells of amber and heat. Moderate longevity and a medium-low sillage. I would buy it again: an alien with whom to maintain friendly contact without fear of abduction.

Eau Sublime reminds me a lot of the Alien EDT, although with new floral notes that take it slightly away from the original. It comes out very citrusy with lemon and mandarin, which mixes well with the white flowers and classic jasmine. It’s the fresh and juicy version of Alien; it balances the acidity of the fruits very well with the sweetness of the flowers, very rich, and being citrusy, it has good performance. Sometimes I spray the EdP and then more Eau Sublime; they complement each other perfectly: the latter is lighter for certain moments, especially in summer. It’s a citrus Alien, with the familiar DNA, good fixation, and worth it for those days when freshness and energy are needed.

To be honest, I expected more. Seeing the notes and knowing that Dominique Ropion created it, I didn’t hesitate and bought it blind. I’m not regretting it, but if I had tested it first, I certainly wouldn’t have it in my collection. It doesn’t smell anything like the original. The sillage is low and it’s a summer scent. I’ll continue to get to know it, but so far we haven’t fallen in love. EDIT 26/08/22: After several years of forgetting it at the bottom, I tried it again. Perhaps my nose is more educated or my skin has changed, but now it captivates me. It has good fixation and after hours the DNA of the original is noticeable, softer and with a citrus touch that makes it ideal for summer.

I’m not sure if my nose is more educated or my skin has changed, but now it captivates me greatly. It has good fixation and after hours, the DNA of the original Alien is felt, but softened with a slight citrus touch that makes it ideal for summer.

It’s so similar to the original Alien (that potent one from before), but with citrus notes and a jasmine that takes more prominence than the traditional amber. It’s the flanker I’ve liked the most, super versatile for day and night, I love it. Now that I’ve received it as a birthday gift, I can enjoy it and it has great value, as it was given to me by the boy I loved. Alien Eau Sublime, our love story will be infinite, little sparkler.

Currently testing it. Being a Mugler, it smells unusual and isn’t their typical style. At first, it gave me a slightly salty, figgy scent, similar to Womanity, but then the citrus notes emerged, followed quickly by heliotrope. I absolutely love those solar notes that give the brand’s perfumes such an interesting twist. It dries down floral with jasmine and vanilla. Overall, it’s soft with a moderate sillage, feminine, and I think most people will like it, though perhaps not as much as Angel or Alien.
