I’ve only tried it on a blotter and I really liked it… Could it be that I’ve finally found my version of Angel? Could I enjoy its gourmand dry-down without losing my mind to the punch of patchouli in the EDP? The opening is very fresh, fruity, and mentholated, nothing like the EDP, though it does recall the previous EDT, minus the masculine notes I perceived in that one. The dry-down recalls Angel EDP, very sweet and chocolatey, with fruity touches and that distinctive patchouli very much in the Mugler style. So far, my only disappointment is that they have discontinued the Cometa bottle; it was so lovely and original!!
I disagree that it resembles Angel; in fact, it shares very little, it’s more like a rebellious daughter. This is the original, the one with a spontaneous, fun, youthful, and feminine personality. While it possesses all these virtues, it is the one that resembles its mother the least and is the most authentic in its own right. It’s sweet, a fresh, rich candy; I found no trace of mint and the patchouli is very light (too simplified), which makes it unique. It’s the female version of Amen Pure Malt without the liquor but with the same freshness and that delicious sweetness. Fresh… but not a minty freshness since it lacks mint, rather fresh fruits like apple, red berries, and mandarins. It’s very delicious and wearable for every day; I’d say it’s the fragrance that bears the least resemblance to the original Angel and the most carefree, youthful, etc., yet it remains the most interesting… even Angel Crosaire is super patchouly by comparison. That’s a plus… an Angel that lets the original rest and reinvents itself, something many were asking for.
It genuinely tastes delicious! There are so many versions of Angel and I haven’t tried them all, of course the original, which I adore. I think this one, while retaining the essence of Angel, could appeal to those who find the original too overpowering. It’s sweet and soft; I detect more peony and much less patchouli. It definitely goes on my list of next purchases.
I like everything it contains; the only thing that’s too much is the patchouli, which gives me a headache with that lingering scent at the end.
I can’t believe how much I’ve loved this Angel Eau de Toilette. Angel… It’s been about five years since I tried it, and I used to avoid this version thinking it would be similar but softer, but it’s nothing like that. This one is definitely for this summer on hot afternoons and evenings, though it could perfectly be worn in winter mornings.
What a pity they changed the Comète scent and it’s no longer available; they could have simply released a flanker. They bear no resemblance to each other except for the woody notes. It’s a more popular and less original aroma than the other EDT, and its trail and longevity compared to the old formulation are disappointing. If you used to buy a Thierry Mugler for that undeniable presence, you now have to look elsewhere. The current Muglers have a performance more comparable to the rest in terms of trail, fixative qualities, and longevity. From my experience, the scent is rich, sweet, and more youthful, simple and generic, yet not entirely so—as if it wanted to belong to the herd but didn’t quite let itself be swept along. The previous Angel EDT seemed more unmistakable and unique in this regard. A beautiful scent… alas, an irretrievable loss.
What a beautiful, rich, and sweet perfume—perfect for winter and autumn, perhaps spring too, although in summer I think it’s a bit heavy as it’s a real sugar bomb. I can already imagine the EDP. I love it and think it’s very attractive; fruity, gourmand, with patchouli standing out as a note I adore. It’s sexy, sweet, yet playful thanks to the well-blended fruits, while the woods add elegance without being childish.
In short, it smells like a sugared apple with patchouli.
I’ve been unlucky with the Angel EDP; it gives me nausea and a dreadful headache. I wasn’t keen on trying the EDT, thinking it would have the same effect, but surprisingly, I adored it and it hasn’t caused me any discomfort whatsoever.
Arrived yesterday; I had already tried the EDP and liked it, so I trusted my instincts and bought it blind again. It didn’t sit well on my skin at first—I detected a strong green note—and I was considering exchanging it, but my daughter loves the bottle, so it’s staying for that reason. Another blind buy that failed… yet there’s something thrilling about thinking that when you open it, you might finally find your signature scent. I’ll keep using it; perhaps it will improve. Edit: I must say that with the arrival of autumn, it has changed. Now it’s citrusy and sweet at the start, much better! It’s ideal for cold climates. I absolutely love it!
I bought it blindly, excited by the reviews and expecting something sweeter and fruitier. As soon as I smelled it, I could only perceive patchouli, too green and spicy; it doesn’t seem as youthful to me. It was a bit disappointing compared to what I was expecting.
I remember when this new EDT Angel launched, I went to a perfumer thinking it was the same EDT as the Comète version but in a different bottle. The sales assistant told me no, that it was a new presentation with a new scent. I insisted it was the same perfume, and of course, I was wrong; that lady was not 😂. Obviously, I went to apologise once I realised it was indeed a new scent. This 2019 Angel Eau de Toilette is bottled dessert; to me, it smells like cotton candy, even though it doesn’t list that note, although we can’t fully trust the notes. In my opinion, it’s a blend between Angel EDP and Angel Eau Sucrée, though it has its own personality and is very similar to both. It has a very potent trail for an EDT, of course; we’re talking about Mugler, whose signature is a powerful trail and excellent longevity that lasts all day; the rest of designer perfumes should learn from them. It has a good evolution: praline aroma, green apple (which I usually don’t like in perfumes, but here it’s fine), patchouli (the star note) and red currants, which are much appreciated. Was this launch necessary? Yes. It’s an Angel for new generations and an option to wear in spring and autumn. I’m enjoying it a lot; I liked it more than I expected. A delicious perfume that does remind me of Innocent, but this is much better, in my opinion. When I wear it, I think of cotton candy; it’s very sweet and pleasant. The red berries alongside the praline and apple, which seems bathed in caramel, make this sweet aroma intensify with the patchouli, updating the original 1992 Angel to appeal to a younger generation used to gourmands. It has an incredible presence that can make you dizzy or give you a headache if you over-spray, which happens to me, and a longevity of over seven hours. A success by Mugler.
Is it rich? Yes. Does it last well? Yes. Does it smell like a Mugler? No. The 2011 toilette version had a much better trail and presence. This one is rich, but it could be from any house.
This isn’t the classic Angel, neither for good nor bad. It’s a lighter, fruitier take. Here, you can really smell the apple and blackcurrant, but the dry-down has a horrible synthetic pineapple note, which is the part I hate most. The fruity notes were initially pleasing, but the dry-down smells like supermarket shampoo. The candied patchouli is here, or something similar due to the praline blend; honestly, it’s not that bad if it weren’t for that synthetic floral note. I understand they tried to create an Angel for a younger generation and wider audience, and I think they succeeded; it’s still a strong scent for an EDT and retains a bit of the original DNA, though only a little.
A more wearable version with less patchouli than the Angel EDP.
It’s delicious; I love it. I’ve never liked the Angel EDP, but this is simply perfect for me. It has the DNA of the original but is much softer and sexier; every time I wear it, I receive compliments. Excellent projection and longevity. Highly recommended, without a doubt I will repurchase.
It has very noticeable projection. It’s addictive and intriguing; you find yourself wanting to smell it again to understand it better. Barely mentholated, just like the EDP but softer, very sweet yet with a vintage touch. After two hours it had almost vanished from my skin, but lingered for another couple of hours on my clothes. I liked it for its originality, but I’m not sure if it’s 100% my style.
To me, it’s the cheerful, sparkling take on the Angel DNA. How delicious! I adore red fruits, and here they are in full force. I also love patchouli; it’s present but much softer and less earthy. The opening is a sweet citrus burst, drying down to berries with praline and apple – pure magic. The woods and patchouli are perfectly balanced. We click so hard it lasts a long time and has top-notch projection. I’m not lying, I love reapplying mid-day; it’s one of my collection favourites. It projects strongly, it’s one of the scents people ask about most and say smells great – something rare in my country. Very lovely, attractive, and you can tell it’s Mugler. I highly recommend it for spring and fresh evenings.
As a good EDT, the opening is pleasant and it has decent projection when applied. I like the brand’s DNA, but of everything I’ve tried, this is one of the ones that lasts the least on my skin (it lasts more than a day on clothes). I tried giving it time and using it in different seasons, but it just doesn’t seem to work well with me.
The juicy red berries are noticeable from miles away! I absolutely love this EDT, though it took me a while to figure out how to wear it: I only tolerate it in autumn or winter for evening outings. As you move, the bursts are delicious; it has beastly projection, just like Angel Nova. I don’t know the EDP and don’t think I’ll buy it, as it seems to last all day and lingers on coats until you wash them.
I think it’s more beautiful than the Angel EDT; it’s so wearable and easy to use that it has me completely fascinated and in love. 😍
Good heavens. I’ve made a terrible mistake buying it blindly based on reviews and the notes… it smells to me the exact opposite of what people imply. It’s not wearable, it’s not fresh, it’s not youthful, it’s not fruity… it’s a nightmare. It smells metallic to me, it gives me a headache… the only passable part is in the dry-down where the praline is slightly perceptible but that’s it. I didn’t like the EDP at all but I thought the EDT would be different and wanted to give it a desperate opportunity and let myself be led by the surprise factor… truly, I was stupid. I have it now on my wrist and I only smell metal and stale bonbon… and well, I don’t know if it’s the pachuli that gives me a sharp headache.
Angel is for me one of the best creations in modern perfumery, but I admit it’s not for every taste or every occasion, so I was curious about this EDT. I’ll start from the beginning: if you’re looking for a version identical to the Angel EDP but softer, this isn’t exactly what you’ll find. Upon opening, in fact, they bear almost no resemblance. It opens with a sweet fruity bomb, mainly red berries and some apple, very sparkling and luminous. It bore so little resemblance that I thought… why would they want to make this an Angel? But after about half an hour, the typical Angel DNA begins to be perceived gradually, with that characteristic praline and pachuli, although less earthy, less chocolatey, and generally lighter and softened, retaining that sweet fruity point throughout almost its entire evolution. The performance is evidently not as ‘beast mode’ as the EDP but remains very good despite being an EDT, more typical of a conventional EDP and even superior. While the original can be considered unisex, I see this as clearly more feminine. And this one, I believe, I could use practically all year round, perhaps except for the hottest summer days. In summary… I see it as a fairly solid flanker. On one hand, it shares the DNA of the original but is distinct enough. On the other hand, it’s a much more versatile and/or youthful version. It has surprised me and would be well received in my collection.
Angel Eau de Toilette, the reformulated version available now, is a Mugler suitable for everyone; it smells of juicy, almost wild red berries, a very perceptible praline from the start, and a pachuli worked in the Mugler style, but reducing its earthy aspect to a minimum. Nevertheless, one must not forget that this house built its prestige around the strength of its notes (the magnificent mentholated pachuli of Angel, the wild jasmine of Alien), and while this Eau de Toilette version has a ‘lower degree’ of pachuli, that must be measured on the hyperbolic scale of the ‘Mugler universe’, because this pink liquid star is still an Angel, so don’t expect a discreet fragrance. The projection in my case is moderate and the longevity is six hours or more, depending on the weather, but most of the time I feel it clinging to the skin, not projecting beastly like its Parfum version. The quality-price ratio seems acceptable to me and the presentation is simply beautiful; it’s the scent of a fairy tale in an impossible bottle, except for the glass masters Brosse, and it’s also sustainable as it can be refilled at a lower cost for the environment and its owner. Something I always find worthy of mention is that most people say they hate it, prejudging it for its reputation as a headache generator, but they wouldn’t believe the amount of compliments I’ve received for wearing it in almost any weather; it’s an unbeatable compliment getter, no wonder they say a bottle is refilled every 25 seconds somewhere in the world. Who will like it: more people than you might imagine.
The most versatile and timeless perfume I own, plus delicious ❣️; it can be worn perfectly in summer since the dry-down is very fresh. Edit: it has become my favourite perfume 🩵
We must start by saying that most Angels aren’t for me, but the other day a friend was wearing a delicious perfume I couldn’t recognise. It was sweet and cloying but with a fresh touch; I fell in love the moment I smelled it. She, thrilled that her fragrance made such a good impression, pulled a 50ml bottle with the legendary star from her bag. My face was a picture… if I had tried Angel and didn’t like it, I didn’t understand anything. She told me it happened to her too, but she had discovered the EDT through another friend. What can I say? It smells delicious, has superb longevity for an EDT, and is a more modern and youthful version of the classic. If you like sweet, cloying things with a hint of berries, you’ll love it. Nothing like the classic Angel; give it a chance. I just bought a little bottle and I’m delighted. <3. I see it as very versatile despite being a sugary perfume.
Since Angel exists, I’ve been obsessed: on one hand, it captivates me, and on the other, it repels me. I like smelling it occasionally on the street but can’t bear to wear it. Ten years ago, I was gifted a sample of the first Eau Sucrée and thought I had found my Angel, but when I wanted to buy it, they had already discontinued it, and subsequent versions didn’t convince me either. Tired of asking for samples, I bought a mini bottle of the EDP that I never wear in public but enjoy greatly on my own, debating between pleasure and disgust. Perhaps that’s why I ignored this EDT version when it launched, but after reading your review, I was encouraged to try it this morning and, oh heavens!, although it’s not the same as the original Eau Sucrée, it caused a similar sensation: finally an Angel I’d dare to wear in public. The test was giving it to my partner, who hates the EDP; not only didn’t he scrunch his nose, but he found it pleasant. I suppose this EDT will be a joke for fans of the original, but in my case, it has been a blessing to find the notes I’ve always loved, with the ones that cause rejection very diluted. A pleasant surprise.
Angel EDT, well, in the end, I fell for Angel’s wings. I must admit that right when it launched, I couldn’t stand it; I was young and didn’t enjoy that style at all. Today, I got the EDT version and I feel it’s updated and fruity, ideal for winter. It’s enveloping, has personality, and speaks for itself. There’s no other like it; it’s not for everyone unless you want to smell different from the rest. It makes itself felt and leaves a mark. I loved it.
I have a lot to say about this gorgeous Angel. 💞 The scent reached my hands thanks to a sample gifted by a perfumer; the first time I smelled it, I thought it was bland and heavy, but upon smelling it again, I was fascinated and totally obsessed, without a single day’s hesitation to buy it. Its aroma is sweet yet wild, with a fresh and charming dry-down that smells like pure honey mixed with water. For me, it’s perfect for day and night, winter and autumn, though I’d also wear it in summer and spring due to its floral and fruity touches. It lasts a long time on my skin without needing reapplication; sometimes I can even smell it the next day. It has great personality; perhaps it won’t turn heads, but it will certainly attract compliments. I would buy it again; it’s one of my favourites. (❁´◡`❁)
I just tried Angel Eau de Toilette and, wow, I was surprised: it smells identical to ‘La Petite Robe Noire’ by Guerlain and ‘Mon Premier Parfum’ by Lolita Lempicka, which I already own and can’t tell any difference between. I detect the cherry and wood notes exactly as in those two. The bottle is pretty, but the scent disappointed me because, for me, it’s just the same old thing.
I bought it a few months ago blindly, tempted by a huge Cyber Monday discount. At first, it was hard for me to use it because, although the patchouli is much lighter, the classic Angel DNA remains very present, which I don’t tolerate. Recently, I gave it another chance on hotter days, and luckily the patchouli dropped in intensity, giving way to a combination of sweet fruits with just enough acidity to not be oppressive. Now I like it and enjoy wearing it. Happy I gave it a second chance 😀
I bought it today, the 31st, at an incredible price in Argentina; you know here the New Year is spent with lots of heat, and today it’s around 32 degrees. Clearly, it’s not for such hot days, although it remains exquisite, it just feels a bit oppressive with that stifling heat. I applied it and felt the fruit notes strongly, but after a while the soul of the perfume emerged. Intense, too much for an EDT, as I’ve worn it for six hours and I still smell it. I detect a slightly metallic, wild patchouli that blends with the praline. You know? It reminds me a lot of the Jimmy Choo I also own, and I’m not wrong; you buy two notes, and that one instead of praline has toffee, a very similar scent. I’ll edit if necessary to use it at night or on fresher days. Despite today’s heat, for me it’s a resounding yes.
This version of the Angel EDT is simply beautiful. You can feel all its notes; it’s much more wearable than the EDP. It lasts many hours on my skin, certainly eight. Forget about clothes; it stays impregnated for days. The patchouli is very soft; truly a gem from Mugler. Congratulations to its creator.
I love it; it has brutal longevity and sillage. The other day I sprayed some on a friend to show her off, and it filled the whole house. I adore it.
Let me start by saying I hate the EDP; I always wanted to like it but I can’t. Oh, but! The EDT is something else. I never bothered to smell it because I thought it would be the same, but I tried this hoping to like it, and what can I say. I detect a sweet, caramelised sesame scent, wonderfully so, and at the same time it’s very earthy. One spray envelops you. It has become a favourite.
With this, I’m opting out of trying more flankers in the Angel line, of which I only like the Elixir, the most hated and distinct one. Patchouli with berries and apple. I felt nothing more than that. I realised I definitely hate patchouli; it seems very masculine to me, and although here the praline is toned down and doesn’t smell masculine, it still retains that essence I dislike. It’s not a bad perfume, but it lacks that ‘wow’. It smells nice and fruity, but unfortunately, a green aromatic patchouli rather than earthy one dominates about 80%. It reminds me of a handmade hand cream I smelled some time ago. Performance is good, it lasts a long time and isn’t invasive, though more than two sprays can be heavy. If you don’t like patchouli, you won’t like this.
I’m very picky about this one, but it’s my ‘rare gem’. At first I hated it, then I approached it tentatively despite the drying phase bothering me, and now I adore it. Every use reveals different facets: initially that minty, earthy patchouli blend that I now desperately seek because I’ve become a sweet-patchouli lover; then in the heart, I appreciate that fruity apple note I didn’t notice before; and finally, there’s the praline.
I stumbled upon this by chance. I always avoided Eau de Toilettes, a mistake. Upon application, you feel a green explosion that sweetens over time. To me, it smells much sweeter than the original; it’s clear the patchouli has been toned down. Excellent longevity, a beautiful scent that will stay in my collection. Sillage: 7, Longevity: 7, Novelty: 8
I tested them side by side and they bear no resemblance to each other. This one reminds me of Guerlain’s Aqua di Allegoria with pomegranate and sage, heading down that fresh and lasting path, whereas the classic Angel feels denser and cloying to my nose.
Nothing like the original EDP; this smells more fruity, floral and sweet, fitting the Angel family but much more modern and versatile. It’s exquisite. I love the whole Angel line, everything from Mugler is fabulous. 10/10
