Top fragrance, very masculine. The opening is identical to Mancera Wind Wood, but Oaud Violet evolves into something more elegant and less linear thanks to that fresh, green violet note, reminiscent of leaves. Nothing sweet, very natural. Ideal for the office with a white shirt. With five sprays in 24-degree weather, it lasts all day close to the skin but perceptible in soft bursts. It puts me in a good mood every time I smell it, much like Terre d’Hermès. It will be a permanent addition to my collection.
Excellent fragrance, markedly masculine. Very similar to Mancera Wind Wood at the opening (identical to the nose), but then Aoud Violet develops more elegantly in my opinion, less linear, thanks to a present fresh green violet note, like violet leaves, all in a very pleasant and natural combination, 0% sweet. Ideal for the office, semi-formal with a white shirt. In my experience, it is a fragrance that accompanies you all day in spring weather at 24 degrees and finishes close to the skin but remains present. I manage to perceive it in soft bursts throughout the day with five sprays on skin; it feels very natural, its oils, nothing artificial. It puts me in a good mood every time I perceive it during the day… there are few fragrances that cause this effect… Terre d’Hermes is the other. I will certainly buy it again when it runs out; it will be a permanent part of my collection.
@Raymond, excellent review. It is similar to Wind Wood, but with an outstanding interesting green violet and an evident oud that is not animalic or medicinal. It is masculine, elegant and fresh. If you have Aoud Violet, you do not need Wind Wood, as it would be redundant, and vice versa. If you do not have either and you like violet without feeling it is Fahrenheit, go straight for Aoud Violet. This is a totally underrated fragrance.
Excellent perfume. Energising, optimistic and brilliant. The opening recalls Wind Wood, but as it dries down, the leather becomes less prominent. It is among the best Mancera has to offer. Perfect for a sunny day when you want to conquer the world.
Excellent fragrance. Energising, optimistic, brilliant. The opening is very similar to Wind Wood, but in the dry down the leather note is less evident. One of the best Mancera has to offer. To wear on a sunny day, on a day when you want to conquer the world.
I do not see it as unisex at all; I see it as undeniably masculine; I do not know why it says ‘for women’. For a man, I do appreciate it.
Hello everyone. This Mancera reference, Oaud Violet, is mislabelled. The title says ‘for women’, but on their website the house lists it under men’s fragrances. Although I see it as unisex leaning masculine, they review it solely in the men’s section and it does not appear in women’s.
Hello everyone. The reference for this Mancera fragrance, Aoud Violet, is incorrect. The title lists it as ‘for women’. However, the Mancera house indicates it on their website as a men’s fragrance. Another matter is that I personally consider it unisex leaning towards masculine, but Mancera reviews it exclusively in the men’s fragrance section and it does not appear in the women’s fragrance section.
A fragrance for the office at 100%, on that Prada L’Homme wavelength but taking different paths. I like it, but it does not surpass my enthusiasm.
A masculine aroma, slightly fougère in my opinion at the opening; as it dries down, it becomes somewhat soapy due to the mix of violet, vetiver and agarwood, yet also soapy. This Mancera lasts all day, at least on my skin, with occasional bursts of projection. I see it as suitable for all year round and could clearly be a signature fragrance.
A masculine fragrance with unisex tints. Projects well and is noticeable for several hours, with longevity exceeding eight hours. Violet with vetiver and patchouli, some oud. The citrus and amber are not noticeable. Very versatile, suitable for all year round except hot summers.
Masculine with a unisex touch. Projects well and lasts more than eight hours. It is violet with vetiver and patchouli, with a hint of oud. The citrus and amber are not noticeable. Very versatile for all year round except hot summers.
An 80s and 90s classic fougère. Smells like a green forest with occasional breezes of violet. Lasts more than eight hours in the Montale style. A throw of a metre and a half for the first hour and a half, then a personal bubble. Unisex leaning masculine, especially with the violet. Very underrated.
A classic fougère from the 80s and 90s. It smells of green forest and occasionally of a violet breeze. Very good longevity in the Montale style, over eight hours. A trail of 1.5 metres for the first hour and a half, then a personal bubble. Unisex leaning towards masculine, especially once the violet comes in. Highly underrated.
Start by saying the labelling is terribly wrong, as none of this smells like a women’s fragrance, yet the website claims it is. Most Mancera and niche scents are unisex; everyone chooses what they like, but beyond personal taste (even if ‘violet’ is in the name), this is neither floral nor talcum-powdery; there are no ionones here, which I adore. It is a violet leaf fragrance with its classic bitter freshness, far from the petrol tone of Fahrenheit but on the same line as Givenchy’s Only the Gentlemen and running on the same string as Chanel’s Egoiste Platinum. Aoud Violet has a fresh opening where the leaves shine with their usual bitterness, reinforced by oakmoss, vetiver and green notes that sweeten as they evolve; part of that sweetness comes from the amber base and a very measured patchouli. The declared oud note does not feel animalic or balsamic, nor very present; it is a subtle woody touch in the base. The spiced notes are well-integrated and hardly obvious, perhaps a fresh hint of cinnamon (not at all sweet) that can be appreciated amidst everything. The performance is quite good for its profile, not reaching the beast status of the house, but it lasts perfectly for eight hours with notable projection in the first two.
