From the Sanskrit for ‘breath’, so the Arabs called Etna. Atma pays homage to Enceladus, the giant buried beneath the mountain who, in a rage, spewed fire and smoke to the summit. It is a lava scent, complex, reminiscent of Cuoiom, Maahir Black and 1805 Tonnerre. It opens with earth clinging to tuber roots, black pepper, metallic notes and smoky vetiver. It is not very evolving, but it lasts for hours with a good trail. It has something unique: if you have ever been in a fire, like when my house burned down at university, that smell of ash and Atma by Sikelia will bring it back to you. Given its complexity and potential bad memories, it is not for everyone or for blind buying, but it is an incredible olfactory experience.
