Autograph Blush, a gentle fruity floral for daily wear

Autograph Blush by Marks & Spencer is a fruity floral fragrance for women with an emphasis on softness. It brings together citrus brightness, delicate petals and red fruit.

On first impression it feels luminous and unfussy. This is very much a daytime, easy-to-wear sort of scent, favouring comfort and quiet femininity over impact.

Up top are bergamot, violet and blackcurrant. The bergamot lends a fresh citrus gleam, the blackcurrant offers a juicy, faintly sharp lift, and the violet already lends a powdery veil.

The heart centres on rose and raspberry. Rose supplies a tender, floral femininity, while raspberry adds a light fruity sweetness that never feels heavy.

Underneath, musk, amber and vanilla form the base. Musk gives a soft, clean-cotton character, amber provides restrained warmth, and vanilla finishes with a smooth, modest creamy sweetness.

The accord profile is therefore led by rose, fruity and powdery notes, alongside citrus, floral and sweet facets, with violet, musk and an aromatic, fresh spiced undertone. With an average of 3.9 out of 5 from 67 ratings, it reads as a kindly, straightforward choice.

It will appeal to those who favour a mellow, feminine fruity floral for regular use. Lovers of rose with raspberry, powdery touches and a sheer musk-vanilla drydown — for the office, springtime or daytime — will enjoy it most.

Autograph Blush does not set out to surprise, but to reassure. If fruity roses mellowed by musk and vanilla sound like your cup of tea, this simple, pleasant offering from Marks & Spencer deserves a try on skin.
