Share what you noticed: opening, drydown, sillage and the moments when it works for you.
It hooked me from the start, super sparkling and fresh. The downside is that after a while it drops almost to skin level; I only notice it with a movement of the arm or a breeze. Still, it deserves a second chance because it smells good. For me, it’s aromatic, fresh, spicy with a touch of wood.
Its rhythm is soft and enveloping, with that vibe of intimacy. It doesn’t flood the room but creates its own personal, cosy cloud. It goes perfectly all year round. It starts fresh, green and citrusy, then moves to something resinous, creamy and woody, very unisex. It has a green and earthy touch that suits it perfectly. It’s not sweet, but in the dry down it gives a honeyed breath, surely thanks to the vetiver. It feels linear but fits that idea of personal harmony.
It’s… how should I put it? Sweet, talcum-like, soft, harmonious. It’s like a lovely bedtime story, a super intimate fragrance. That’s why I don’t complain about the sillage, even if it’s demanding. The incense gives it a magical and soft air; after a while it smells of pure incense, of a library, of peace and silence. In my opinion it’s more feminine. The blend of elemi and lemon gives just the right sweetness, and the oakmoss adds freshness so it doesn’t feel heavy. I love it, it’s rich. Ideal for rainy days or walks in the woods.
There’s not much to say: it smells like the shavings or splinters left after sharpening a pencil, from start to finish. The scent itself isn’t bad, but the projection and longevity are a disaster. Upon application, it dropped to skin level; I barely noticed that woody aroma in an almost non-existent way and it lasted less than an hour. It’s a commercial scam, an insult to the consumer. I don’t understand how they exist, especially in ‘niche’ houses; they should be ashamed. If you thought Gucci Pour Homme had poor projection, you’re wrong: this beats it by a mile. For this Autoportrait there’s no definition for how bad it is. Warning: don’t buy it blindly, you’ll be disappointed. The price-to-quality ratio is terrible.
It’s my signature scent. In my view it’s masculine, it smells like a freshly showered and perfumed man. Ideal for daily use, without flashiness or ostentation. It’s the one people ask about most after catching a whiff. 9.5 out of 10.
