Seeking the ideal citrus scent, and @Troylo’s review gave me the push I needed. What can one expect from a ‘footballer’ fragrance by a perfumer of Natalie Lorson’s calibre at such a bargain price? The previous description fits perfectly: very balanced, not overpowering, versatile, and with good longevity. The fact that it’s affordable adds an elegant touch you wouldn’t expect. It’s neither original nor different, and that’s quite fine. Decent quality, not sublime, but there are houses that charge double without blinking. Part of the addiction is finding jewels amongst the costume jewellery; it gives a real buzz. It’s not the perfect citrus, but I’m glad to have discovered it. I’ll leave it as a collector’s gem.
I’m also looking for that perfect citrus scent 😉 @Troylo’s review (thanks, by the way) sparked my curiosity: what to expect from a famous footballer’s perfume, by a perfumer like Natalie Lorson, in the ‘budget’ section? Well, @Troylo describes it perfectly. I’d add that it’s very balanced, not overpowering, versatile and all-rounder. Good performance. Given the price, it’s almost awkward to say it’s elegant, but it is. It’s neither original nor different, but it lacks nothing. The quality is correct, not sublime, but there are houses that sell the same thing for ten times more without blinking. Part of the blame for this perfume addiction lies in these discoveries. What a buzz finding a jewel amongst so much costume jewellery. It’s not the perfect citrus, but I’m glad to have met it. Let’s call it a ‘little gem’. I suspect it will stay in the collection.
Beyond Forever by David Beckham has been a delightful surprise. As with all his scents, I bought it blind without testing it in-store, but I got it right this time. It’s an herbal EDT where the citrus bergamota stands out at the start with a touch of nutmeg spice. I love the heart for its freshness, softness, and greenery, which reminds me of Pomellato 67, probably due to that fern note. My favourite part is the dry down: a pleasant soapy scent with a sparkling base of violets. It reminds me of the end of Pharrell Williams’ Girl, with that dark, mature soap vibe like Magno gel. Suitable for any weather, cold or hot. If you’re looking for a cheap EDT with a wonderful soapy dry down, this is a highly recommended option.
Beyond Forever by David Beckham has been a total success. As with all his fragrances, I bought it blind without being able to test it in-store, but I got it right on the head. I love its heart for that freshness, softness, and greenery which reminds me of Pomellato 67, surely because of that fern note.
