Black Oregano by Atelier Materi is an oriental woody creation designed for men and women. This new fragrance, launched in 2025, has been signed by nose Celine Perdriel. Its olfactive pyramid unfolds with top notes of lime, rosemary, and cardamom; a heart composed of oregano, vetiver, and Australian sandalwood; and a base of oud wood, leather, patchouli, and labdanum.

Interlude doesn’t smell like perfume, but rather dry, old wood with a dusting of spice powder on top. The cumin defines the character, even if they don’t say so, while the cardamomo adds that sharp freshness that sometimes overpowers. In the base, that wood has a subtle touch of burgundy-style oud, but toned down, as if viewed from a distance, while in your hands you have a cocktail of softer, more neutral woods that lighten the overall effect. If you’re looking for something spicy but not heavy, with cumin as the star and a dry wood base reminiscent of a pine board, you’ll absolutely love it.
At first, the leather is brutal: astringent, hard and unsweetened, with hints of tar, spices and green notes. Ideal for unfiltered leather lovers. But over time, that initial edge fades, leaving behind a spicy and green scent that doesn’t quite convince me, with a lingering rubbery or gummy aftertaste. Very potent and straight to the point.
