  I’ve just picked up one of the richest sandalwoods I’ve ever smelled, perhaps the best. It’s a Western sandalwood, creamy and almost milky, reminiscent of Perris or Diptyque, nothing like Santal 33. It’s superbly elegant, with luminous, bright, solar and citrus facets, but these are nuances; the star is an incredible cream of sandalwood. If I see a good deal, I’ll buy it, but for now the price seems very high.

  A luminous and fresh sandalwood that, although it looks like another spicy recipe, smells different from anything I’ve tried before. It’s formulated very cleanly, with a natural and almost green jasmine. As it dries, it becomes creamy, but sometimes I notice a medicinal touch that keeps it especially fresh throughout its evolution. I see it as 100% unisex, ideal for everyday wear, particularly during the day. The longevity is immense, a minimum of 10-12 hours, and I can still detect it on my skin the next day. Projection and trail are moderate, more intimate than I expected, but that’s not a drawback. I’ve really enjoyed it and found it distinct; it could even appeal to those who don’t usually wear woody scents. For now, I’m not buying it as I already have many with this note, but I won’t rule it out in the future.

  Santal Blond is a gorgeous sandalwood, far brighter and more characterful than its cousins. Enveloped in a green, slightly camphorated and citrusy aura, it rests on a deep woody base. That initial sparkle comes from cardamom, while hinoki provides the green/camphor note that, rather than overwhelming, textures the sandalwood foundation. As it dries, it darkens slightly, revealing a hint of incense without losing its heart. I find it super original, more masculine and wearable all year round. Its only flaw is that the performance is just average, and combined with the price, it loses some points. Still, it deserves a try. Rating: 7.5/10 (Discovery Set).
