I’ve finished the previous bottle which smelled almost identical to Aventus and lasted wonderfully, but this new one is a fiasco: it smells very weak and the longevity has vanished. I wonder if Armaf has reformulated it, but they’ve truly ruined it. What a shame. I don’t understand what’s going on with perfumers or brands; they are ruining everything that made sense. The atomiser is rubbish, and worse, it’s stuck to the bottom of the cap holder, so perfume gets inside the bottle. And watch out: some units arrive poorly sealed. They don’t just leak if you lay them down; the product evaporates (which is almost better, as it gives more intensity and that rancid oxidised note that, paradoxically, improves this formula).
I finished my previous bottle, which smelled like Aventus and lasted all day, but this new one is very weak and the longevity has dropped significantly. I wonder if Armaf reformulated it; they’ve ruined it, what a shame. I don’t understand what’s going on with perfumers or brands—they’re ruining everything that was worth keeping. The atomiser is a disaster, spraying almost to the bottom of the cap so perfume drips underneath. Additionally, some units arrive poorly sealed: not only do they leak if you lie down, but the contents evaporate (almost a good thing, as oxidation increases intensity and adds a rancio note, which paradoxically improves this formula).
It’s basically a clone of Afnan’s Supremacy Intense, which in turn copied Mancera’s Cedrat Boise and Nishane’s Hacivat. It smells of fruity flowers, sweet things, yes, but not smoky or woody notes. Divine Commandment, number 11: the perfumed man does not live solely on the Aventus aroma.
I have it, and for it to resemble Aventus, one needs a very fine nose; I don’t. I own the original and this doesn’t resemble it at all; it just smells a bit of pineapple somewhere, but they have nothing to do with each other. It’s a good perfume, smells very well, regardless of what it smells like. It lasts a lot, six hours or more. When I run out because I use it, I’ll buy more.
I have it now, and be careful: if anyone says it smells like Aventus, they have a golden nose; I don’t. I own the original and this doesn’t look like its twin; well, you can detect a hint of pineapple somewhere, but nothing else. It’s a top perfume, smells great regardless. It lasts a fortune, six hours or more. When I run out because I use it, I’ll buy more.
Ucephalus XI: disappointment or success? I read comments saying it’s a clone of Aventus, much better than the ‘black beast’, cleaner, and now that I’ve tried it, I wonder: do those people know the King? Or did they try those mythical batches from 2011 or 2013, which is why they swear it smells the same? My disappointment comes from such a desire to know those formulas and be told ‘this is how it smells’. I would prefer a thousand times the current formulas (2017-2018) which I do know. Deep down, I know they let themselves be guided by what they read. It’s not a bad fragrance, but the hype, the attempt to resemble, and that beautiful bottle (where quality leaves much to be desired) made it sell for even double the CDNIM price. It’s a citrus fragrance without that sharp acidic punch of the black beast; a green wood note comes out immediately trying to give a smoky touch, but it’s not well executed. At the base, you can detect a bit of vanilla. As I say, it’s not bad and has good longevity; it lasted me more than six hours, even though I suffer from low performance. In my opinion, of all the clones, it’s the one that resembles Aventus the least. The bottle quality isn’t the best; I could even say it has the worst atomiser I’ve seen, and I have plenty to compare. If you’ve already tried it and like it, go ahead. Best wishes.

It smells very similar to Club de Nuit Intense Man, but it’s fruitier and less smoky. However, it has less sillage and doesn’t last as long.
