The now-discontinued Tutti Frutti line from Roja Parfums featured three gourmand scents united by a common thread: oud. Candy Aoud is a woody oud accented with birch and leather, giving it a dirty edge wrapped in sweetness. It’s linear with good projection, leaning towards unisex-masculine despite the pink bottles suggesting otherwise. I like it dry, but it never quite convinced me when worn. I tested it on my family, and no one cared enough to ask about the brand or the $550 price for 50ml; they just said it was ‘okay’. It feels like an overcomplicated offering, as Frutti Aoud delivers the same vibe but leans into fruit, feeling dirtier, while Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is more pleasant with an initial oud followed by banana fruit notes, and Qatar smells like cotton candy with incense. All carry that typical sweet Roja DNA. The fact that I don’t like it doesn’t mean others won’t, but curiously, both this scent and Frutti Aoud were discontinued due to poor sales. The only real winner is Sweetie Aoud, one of the best gourmands I’ve ever smelled. Are you missing out on something special? No. It’s not worth seeking unless you have a fetish for collecting Roja bottles, which will leave a hole in your pocket.
