Cielo Eau de Parfum by Yanbal

The first time I tried it, it didn’t quite convince me, but days later, while rummaging through my wardrobe for a blouse, I noticed an ethereal, elegant scent that wasn’t coming from me. I searched through the clothes, and when I found the one I’d worn, I couldn’t recall the perfume until I tested the three I had; it was this one. Now I don’t wear it on my skin but mist it over clean garments; when I dress, I’m already enveloped in that dry scent I loved so much. It feels elegant, is good value, and lasts incredibly long.

It’s a lovely perfume: fresh, floral, soapy and creamy, yet in the way clean skin smells. Don’t be fooled by its ‘feminine’ label; it’s a super masculine soapy base with a floral touch that gives it attitude. It has decent projection and longevity for an economy range catalogue; gentlemen, this gives three legs to any current designer brand. If you’re a man, don’t buy blindly despite the price, as many have closed minds and believe flowers are only for women.

An eighties floral, a classic that brings back fond memories of my mother wearing it, leaving a delightful trail of lotus flower.

I fully agree with Nella79: the dry-down is a feminine scent, powerful and delicate all at once. Simply exquisite, it gives you that aura of softness, like a tender hug that calms and brings peace. You definitely need to wait at least an hour to feel it all… The opening is floral and even slightly sharp, but it’s worth it for that beautiful dry-down, fitting the name Cielo perfectly. Projection and longevity 10/10.

Smells like a 50-year-old lady trying to get attention; I found it very cloying and overly sweet, not to my taste. I considered buying it as a gift, but in the end, I went for Gaia, which seemed like a better option—more versatile and wearable.

You can really detect the sandalwood, amber and white florals; it’s sweet due to those flowers and has medium longevity. Very pleasant and elegant, it stands apart from the current trend of sweet and vanilla gourmands.

It has no fruity notes whatsoever; it’s a potent floral, a bombshell reminiscent of the late 80s where the lotus flower reigned supreme. Like all florals, it has that typical soapy, slightly off-putting touch, but its dry-down is sincerely beautiful. I have mixed feelings: I must cross that barrier of white flowers to reach that elegant dry-down with sandalwood and tonka bean. It sits somewhere around the Van Cleef & Arpels Gem line, though the latter is more complex and glamorous, befitting its era. Cielo is far less opulent; the lotus flower is very present alongside every note. It’s very well made, you can tell everything, a true beauty for lovers of 80s florals.
