Top notes are bergamot, grapefruit, lavender and saffron; the middle features nutmeg, cardamom, smoke and liquorice. Cedar, sandalwood, caramel, patchouli, labdanum, amber and oud wood form the base.
It begins on a bright, aromatic footing. Grapefruit and bergamot feel lively, lavender lends a neat, faintly powdery polish, keeping the citrus refined.
Saffron soon lends a drier spiced colour. Slightly leathery in effect, it links the fresh opening to the heart and foreshadows the smokier phase.
Nutmeg and cardamom shape the centre, balancing cool spice with mellow warmth. Smoke deepens the blend, while liquorice contributes a distinctive sweet-anisic note that sets the heart apart.
