I dream of owning this fragrance in EDP one day. It’s fresh but strong and sophisticated, perfect for morning and afternoon. Simply a treasure.
I love it for its freshness and originality; I hope it hasn’t undergone current reformulations. It’s a very savoury herbal aroma, slightly sweet, not overpowering but long-lasting. I hope to try it soon and see if there’s any change in its scent.
It’s a so well-crafted perfume… it’s one of those made to measure for people who love naturalness without excessive sweetness, for those we cherish. It lacks voluptuousness yet has a personality that will last forever. It can become from the start a chosen, individual perfume. I’ve never been able to smell another fragrance that could match it as a substitute. Truly, it’s worth recommending to those who like floral scents without excess but want them to last long enough. Its name gives the clue: Cristalle… clean and transparent… revealing a whole world of sensations. It’s been one of my perfumes for years. This time, I say that at a high price, you can always find what you seek, provided you don’t look for sweet or vanilla scents. I add: today it still smells the same, but the intensity it once had was enviable; nowadays, its duration is far from making it a flagship fragrance for a house with such a name.
Cristalle is a perfect example of a chypre. Its aroma leans heavily on green notes, with unmistakably dominant moss and vetiver. There’s also a green, cool scent like a coniferous forest, with a strong pine note. It’s a clean, aquatic perfume, but curiously, to me, it feels winterly: it evokes a cold forest, tundra aromas, an almost frozen dampness, the morning frost on the trees. It’s smelling natural winter: cold, damp woods. To my taste, it’s very elegant, evoking cold, distant people shaped by experience but with a good heart, like its woody notes. It must be worn for something very special, a winter gala night with a long, imposing dress. I can’t imagine anyone under 25 wearing it; it’s an ode to experience. Of very long duration, I’d say over 24 hours. It deserves immortality in a museum because it’s one of the planet Earth’s aromas.
A relative gifted me this perfume when I was 20. Before, I’d tried the EDT and found it very strong and serious, not seeing it as appropriate, yet I used it. Recently, I ran into it again at El Corte Inglés and fell in love; now I’m in a position to appreciate it. It’s green, cool, and to me, a bit aldehydic. The duration is brutal, very elegant. Although it doesn’t resemble current trends… the bottle came with me, and I await winter to enjoy it again. Ironically, the shop assistant gifted me a sample of Gabrielle… it’s like buying a box of Godiva chocolates and being given a jar of Nutella.
Finally, my hands on Cristalle EDP, that green freshness and natural elegance I was seeking without knowing it. It is luxury worn with total naturalness, without pretension, enjoying nature just as it is: radiant sun or splendid rain. The opening is a sharp but non-piercing citrus, softening with moss and vetiver; the fruits add only a touch of delicate sweetness. The result is as clean and crystal-clear as a stream, with a sophistication that makes it suitable for any occasion. Although different, it recalls Estée Lauder’s Private Collection in style, for that blend of naturalness and class. I shall not be able to do without it. EDIT: In summer on skin, it becomes too sweet; the fruits (like peach) dominate and I lose that crystal freshness I adore in other seasons. I like it more on paper. I will have to try it on clothes.
Finally, I have Cristalle EDP, which is the exact balance of fresh green elegance I’ve always sought, even without realising it. It’s elegance cubed, the kind of elegance people accustomed to luxury wear naturally, appearing to enjoy nature without trying. If the sun comes out, they enjoy that light; if it rains, the smell of rain accompanies them. It starts with a sharp citrus that doesn’t sting, softening with moss and vetiver. I barely notice the fruits, except for a delicate, soft sweetness. The whole thing is as fresh, clean, and crystalline as a stream’s waters. Despite being natural and woody, it has sophistication for any moment. Although they aren’t similar, it reminds me of Estée Lauder’s Private Collection for that union of naturalness and sophistication. I won’t be able to do without it anymore. EDIT: On my skin, it changes if worn in summer, where it becomes too sweet. The fruits I barely noticed in January, like peach, I’ve appreciated almost too much in summer; what I love is that crystalline, fresh presence of other times. On paper, it stays as I like it. I’ll have to test how it changes on clothes.
Fresh green, ideal for mild and hot days. I get along well with a perfumer in my city; she always gifts me samples and we chat amiably about what smells better or worse. We agree on one thing: the perfume world has changed. Now they are softer than before as fixatives have adapted to strict regulations. Cristalle follows the trail of the 70s, but here the notes don’t clump together; there is evolution. On my skin, it moves from a comfortable fresh citrus to a vetiver green, finishing with a pleasant jasmine surrounded by oakmoss. Honestly, I don’t detect the fruits, perhaps because my nose is accustomed to current fruity scents. I smell it with jasmine and woody green notes. It is elegant, with good fixity and an acceptable trail; it’s brilliant for work or going out for cubatas or gin tonics on a summer terrace. I don’t see it for night; it lacks sensuality. Suitable for all ages, totally unisex nowadays, and fresh with the softness of a post-storm forest breeze in summer. A rich perfume. A masterful chypre.
A fresh green for mild and hot temperatures. I have a shop assistant friend who always gifts me samples, and we politely debate which smells better. I was looking for a green, herbal scent and, reading reviews, I bought Silences blind. It wasn’t what I wanted; I sought something more feminine and juicy. I find all that in Cristalle EDP. Do you know Arcimboldo’s paintings? Well, Silences would be winter, and I was unknowingly looking for summer. This is Cristalle EDP for me. It starts herbal and mossy, a bit dry, then softens quickly with juicy, liquefied melon. It adds sweetness but never loses its fresh (not refreshing) and clean feel. The melon makes the difference; the EDT feels too unisex and Eau Verte too acidic. It brings together what I craved: a clear, feminine, even sensual aroma. The fixation is surprising; I can still smell it on my pulse or neck after 7-8 hours. The trail is noticeable but not annoying. For me, it suits any season, though the melon’s sweetness might weigh down in extreme heat. To sum up: 12 points for me, 2 for Jacques Polge. Cristalle EDP has totally won me over. I can’t stop smelling my pulse or neck.
This is the perfume I’ve been loyal to for years. I don’t wear it daily and sometimes go through seasons without the urge, but when I see it running low, I feel a pang of anguish because I know I can’t live without it. It’s wonderful, discreet, and suits any occasion, even in the heat (though Eau Verte edges it out slightly).
A beautiful mossy and fruity perfume that unites elegance with spontaneous, youthful freshness. Sillage and longevity are very good; I can still smell it after eight hours. Although it’s not the most mass-market Chanel, it always garners compliments. It works brilliantly in the heat because it boosts the sillage without distorting. It’s not just for summer; in autumn or rainy days, a green forest is enjoyed all year round. The only drawback is the melon, which might be too sweet for some, but a bonus for gourmand lovers.
A beautiful, mossy and fruity perfume that blends elegance with spontaneous, youthful freshness. It’s very wearable and versatile. The trail and longevity are top-notch; I can still smell it after eight hours. While it’s not Chanel’s most famous scent, I receive compliments every time I wear it. It works wonderfully in the heat, boosting the trail without distorting. I don’t consider it a summer exclusive; in autumn, spring, or on rainy days, it smells like a lush green forest all year round. The only drawback is the melon note, which might be too sweet for those who aren’t fans of gourmand scents, but for lovers of that style, it’s a plus. An excellent creation.
My great love; I simply cannot live without it. It is the definition of ‘class’ to me. I’ve heard that some don’t find it projecting enough, but in my case, it has excellent longevity and a very correct trail. It’s my summer star scent: evenings at outdoor restaurants, at the beach, or chilling with the sea breeze. I know of no aroma quite like it; perhaps Saint Laurent’s ‘Y’, but that one is much greener and heavier. Cristal EdP is more delicate. A true gem ❤❤❤
My great love; I can’t live without it. It’s the definition of ‘class’ for me. Some don’t find it projecting enough, but it lasts wonderfully for me with a correct sillage. It’s my summer perfume for outdoor dinners or chill-out sessions on the beach with a breeze. I know nothing that resembles it, perhaps the ‘Y’ by Saint Laurent, but this is more delicate. A true gem.
I took years to restock it, and the truth is, it’s excellent. Feminine, refined, enveloping, and subtle. Ideal for spring due to its freshness without losing the Maison’s elegance. I think it has undergone a slight reformulation, which is a triumph, because it’s wonderful.
I tried it on recommendation and it was a pleasant surprise. The mandarin floods the senses before moving to jasmine and ylang-ylang, a brief phase of three hours. The incredible thing is the mossy and vetiver base, which lasts nearly twelve hours. Fresh, elegant, rough, and impactful, I think it’s appropriate for any occasion: work, family, or festive.
Seven notes that tell a story of enchanted realms. An opening of dark, almost black verdancy, with intense moss and astringent vetiver recalling galbanum, giving a bitter tone to the mandarin. The melon is surprising, sublimating a velvety jasmine over wet peat. It’s not transparency or order; it’s a wild forest revealing beauty. A dazzling interpretation of the mossy chypre.
With just seven notes, Jacques Polge has told a tale of enchanted realms. Its opening is an impossibly dark green. Visually, it would be an almost black green, like a so dense and wild forest that barely lets light through. It’s an intensely mossy opening, boosted by a vetiver so astringent and piercing that for a moment I confused it with galbanum, making the mandarin and the whole blend acquire a pleasant bitter tone. Among the middle notes, the melon is bewildering yet magnificent. Friend Polge has managed to make me love a note I used to hate, like discovering that spinach can be exquisite in the hands of a three-star chef. The melon sublimates a jasmine that should be on the podium of the best ever achieved. But what a jasmine, my goodness… fruity, velvety, robust, and blooming over wet, earthy peat, like a hidden princess in a forest fleeing a Maleficent. Cristalle, despite its name, is not transparency or order: it’s a maelstrom of brambles and vines that end up revealing a sleeping beauty after being broken by a sword blow. It’s fascination and rapture. What a dazzling interpretation of a mossy chypre. And what a wonderful storyteller you are, Monsieur Polge. At your feet, always.
My go-to perfume; I always wear it for special events and daily life. It’s a spectacular chypre, absolutely fresh. I love that oakmoss finish; it gives me vitality and compliments. Original and different, perfect for any season, though ideal for spring and summer at dusk. Like breathing fresh grass in a green field.
It begins with a sparkling champagne and Chanel aldehydes. As it dries down, moss and an astringent green peach take over. It lasts about eight hours with projection that fades to skin-level. Ideal for moss lovers, a quality unisex scent for mild days or summers. Its dry freshness cools the heat. Although I’m not a fan of aldehydes, it’s excellent and deserves a try.
Cristalle smells like my childhood: stepping into my mother’s wardrobe, applying a few drops, and smelling my fingers. Fresh, earthy, clean, and beautiful, perfect for dreaming. Unfortunately, I can’t find it anymore; it’s discontinued. Does anyone recommend something that evokes this scent? My favourite (I have the Eau Verte).
Cristalle is a forest morning with dew, pines, and sunbeams touching your face. Fresh, sharp, luminous, and crystalline. Juicy citrus notes of lime and mandarin, green melon, and flowers like jasmine and white roses sit over wet vetiver. A piece of classic art with moderate sillage and excellent longevity. What a pity it has been discontinued.
I imagine two worlds: a forest after the rain and a French palace garden. It blends earth, sweet florals, and that luxurious touch of talc. On a dry, almost spring-like day, it feels more floral and delicate, adapting perfectly to the weather. Simply exquisite in any setting.
