The top notes are chamomile, fennel, tansy and mandarin; the heart notes, lavender, oakmoss, Virginia cedar and jasmine; and the base notes, ambergris, patchouli, tobacco and vanilla.

The creator of this gem is Jorge Lee, the genius behind much of Nishane and Navitus. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I adore D. Roelen; his avant-garde vision and social sensibility align perfectly with my photographic style, even if it has nothing to do with perfumes. Working with this scent wasn’t easy; I knew what to expect, but I never imagined it would be so complex. I’ve never been a fan of fougères, but Daddy opens a new path in my olfactory experience. First off, it’s not made to please everyone, and that’s exactly what I love; it challenges all your senses. It’s a genuine experience to watch the oils come together with such mastery, boasting beastly longevity and projection (I wouldn’t expect less from an extrait). The opening is green and herbal, with a real citrus note that evokes forests and country life. The fennel, rarely used, gives it a very interesting aniseed air. That classic structure breaks down when you feel a potent, penetrating ambergris that disorients you, mixing repulsion and attraction. The animalic side is accompanied by lavender, jasmine, woods, and a sharp oakmoss that fixes a sweet personality. The first hour was the hardest to accept due to its deeply herbal nature and the animalic touch of the ambergris. The base is pure artistic sensitivity: a wild tobacco, earthy patchouli, and a soft vanilla that adds creaminess. It has vibes reminiscent of Mousse Illuminée and Nuit de Bakélite (starting with the neroli). Although I don’t believe in gendered perfumes, it tends to be very masculine, which makes it even more attractive. Perfumes like Daddy motivate me to keep learning and broaden my perspective.
