Dance by Shakira

Never commented on this perfume before, but it’s one of my first loves since I got addicted to the collection. It’s my all-rounder, my workhorse, the one I wear every morning when I can’t decide what to put on. Lasts hours on skin, almost until the next day. Smells sweet and fresh, like sweet oranges, vanilla, and that citrus-floral touch that makes it so appealing. Conveys youth and joy, the same vibe as Shakira. It’s the richest of her entire collection. Simple, to wear without bothering anyone and just enjoy it. All the Dance line is super affordable, so for price and quality, it’s a 10 for me.

Hmmm, I’m not sure if it’s my skin but it gives me a bit of nausea; it’s not that it’s ugly, but the notes don’t close well. Lasts a short while, though the trail is noticeable hours later. Ideal for sunny days and heat. I’ve had it stored for months and it lost potency, wouldn’t repeat it but it’s normal and pretty.

I have a lot of affection for it because my mother gave it to me along with Dance Diamonds for my 19th birthday; now I’m 26. Years have passed and I still like it, it reminds me of those times I’d alternate them to go to uni. It smells rich, I’ve never smelled anything like it, it’s beautiful, sweet, and sensual. I still use it but prefer it in spring-summer. It’s the third bottle I’ve had since then.

I absolutely love it! It’s my daily wear. Smells just like Givenchy’s Lovely Prism, which is no longer available. It’s sweet yet fresh; on my skin it changes slightly depending on the weather, but I always enjoy it.

I’m not sure if I tested Dance properly in the perfumery, but I loved it. Unlike what people say about it being fresh, it isn’t for me. On blotter it smelled super sweet with a smoky note that I adored. I don’t feel it’s childish; if not for that smoky touch, it would be a sweet classic I like, but that note makes it unique. I’d buy it if it lasted 4-5 hours, as it’s not very expensive in Argentina. I need to verify that smoky note and the longevity before deciding. For now, it smelled delicious and deserves a second try.

This Shakira perfume gives me a certain sense of discomfort; the notes, such as neroli with caramel, simply fail to harmonise on my nose. After applying it, I wished it would go away, and it did, lasting barely a breath. I do like Shakira’s fragrances, even if they are fleeting, but Dance was a resounding no for me.

I have three daughters, each with their own perfume, but I enjoy putting on budget colognes at the entrance to share every day. I bought Dance, Dance Magnetic and Dream because they smelled good in the perfumery, were on offer, and the bottles are pretty, seeming like a good summer option. What a letdown! They have pathetic longevity; the one-litre S3 lasts longer, whereas these don’t last an hour with zero projection. I cannot explain the success. After having S and Shakira Eau Florale, which are not bad, finding these EdTs is disappointing. Honestly, do not waste your money; there are excellent perfumes at the same price.

It is a very subtle and soft perfume, not cloying at all, more restrained, and reminds me of a girl’s cologne. The truth is it does not last a breath, at most an hour, and then it’s as if you haven’t applied anything. What a pity if longevity and trail are a fiasco.

A citrus opening blended with caramel that doesn’t become cloying. It has a powdery atmosphere surrounding it, which, in my opinion, adds magic to this eau. One could say it has a creamy quality among its notes. As it dries down, the florals become more prominent. Highly recommended for daily wear.

At first, it is fruity and citrusy, then slightly sweet with flowers. It does not last more than three hours, but for the price, it is fine, and I have no complaints.

As an Eau de Toilette, it fits its category: it projects for an hour and a half to two hours and lasts about four hours until it disappears, although on clothes it can last almost all day. I see it as ideal for spring and summer, for daytime use. I love the scent; it is sweet but not cloying, with a powdery floral note that makes me think of iris. Upon application, the citrus and fruity notes of orange and pear, bathed in the sweetness of vanilla and amber like a syrup, are noticeable. The floral aspect is dominated by the peony bathed in musk. For me, it is a bouquet of peonies with iris powder, surrounded by oranges and pears in vanilla and amber syrup. If I were to assign it a character, it would be Olivia Newton-John as Sandy in Grease, in her innocent and pink part, just like the fragrance: not intrusive, sweet, and tender. The name Dance suits it perfectly. I recommend it if you like sweets, slightly floral and powdery scents without being intrusive.

I adore Shakira, but the bottle looks incredibly generic; the scent isn’t bad, though.

I fully agree with @LaraVergara_. Dance is on my gourmand list, and the bottle with the pendant reminds me of ‘Hips Don’t Lie’, but the contents are disappointing. It smells vanilla and caramelised with grapefruit and pear. After a few minutes, neroli and a caramelised orange emerge; it’s pleasant, but the longevity is a terrible letdown. After half an hour, I can barely smell a trace. I expected more.

What a sweet and special aroma, ideal for daily use to feel seductive. However, what a pity regarding longevity. I thought it was the only one with poor fixation, but it is not. It leaves much to be desired in terms of staying power on the skin. Nevertheless, the bottle is beautiful and looks nice in my collection.

A daily perfume, nothing special. On me, it smells of caramelised oranges. The trail and longevity are like throwing a tennis ball: you see it go up and it falls quickly. For the price, it’s ‘safa’ as we Argentinians would say, but if you can, buy Natura. They are better and more long-lasting than the entire Shakira range. I recommend it for emergencies.
