I believe the previous Eclat, being more complex and having more notes, evoked something more than a daily men’s fragrance. Now, although it is almost identical, it falls short: I liked the first Eclat, but this one says nothing to me, neither yes nor no, it simply smells nice.
Re-launched in 2021, this fragrance has been reloaded and over-amplified: it is far more potent and long-lasting than the 2015 version. It begins with a very brief fresh, citrusy touch before giving way to warm notes, a subtle yet elegant leather, a powdery sensation reminiscent of iris, and a very present tonka. Towards the end, a patchouli with incisive woods accompanies it until it fades. Previously ideal for the office, this reformulation could be quite invasive; now it is perfect for outdoor daytime outings or formal evening dinners.
