A delicious fragrance that opens with the house’s typical sugared rose, very similar to others I adore: Roses Musk and Intense Roses Musk. However, I’m not sure if it is the raspberry that gives it a slight touch of freshness, lightness and a hint of masculinity to the sweetness without losing its unisex appeal. Hard to decide which I prefer…
Love at first sniff. The rose is pleasant, not freshly cut but rather soft and comforting. The saffron lifts it up. Everything works with the raspberry, yet it isn’t cloyingly sweet; curiously, it carries vanilla without being sickly. No pralines here. The amber is oily and lasts all day.
They sell it as unisex, but to my nose it is far too feminine and floral. I don’t see it as unisex at all.
Intense, sophisticated and powerful. An addictive, exquisite amber. If you’re unsure what to gift, any Montale will do; they are incredibly complete fragrances. So Amber is a soapy amber that you simply can’t stop sniffing; it’s enveloping and warm. A total masterpiece. In Roses Musk, the rose takes centre stage, whereas in So Amber it blends perfectly with the rest like a musical chord. Sensually feminine.
