Completely agree with Melomen. The dry-down is identical to Paula’s Ibiza by Loewe, almost millimetrically so.

Dry and sharp, of brutal quality. Nothing sweet or gourmand. It smells of neither flowers nor fruit. It deserves triple the price. It is already one of my favourites.

First time writing a review after years of reading the forum without commenting. Seeing so many comparisons to classic chypres and not finding it in stores, I ordered it online. Since 80% of my collection consists of chypres (for men or women), I felt comfortable. I own Magie Noire, Cabochard and Aromatics, but this Zara does not smell like any of those. In my opinion, it smells exactly like Loewe Paula’s Ibiza. The dry-down is practically identical.

I went hoping it would smell as described, but nothing like it. It does not smell like Aromatics Elixir, Magie Noire or Paloma Picasso. Yes, it is very similar to Gucci Guilty Absolute with that garage workshop, new leather and tyre scent. It is about 95% similar. It also reminds me of Dior Fahrenheit. It has great sillage; with two sprays I have been smelling it all day and it lasts about seven hours. The bottle is no longer the one in the photo (the old version) but the new version with the long central label.

It’s an olfactory delight. For me, it’s the masculine version of Eau du Soir by Sisley. An imposing perfume at a fantastic price. Note: in February 2024, it returns to the Zara website after months of absence. They’re reissuing it in a different bottle format; I haven’t tried it yet, but I hope they haven’t changed the fragrance.

A delight. For me, it is the male version of Sisley Eau du Soir. An imposing perfume at a fantastic price. Note: it returns to Zara in February 2024 after months of absence. It is reissued with a different bottle; I have not yet tried the contents, but I hope the perfume has not changed.

It is as if Gucci Guilty Absolute had been ‘unisexed’ with a feminine touch. Careful, it is not the same; that is the impression I got when trying it.

It is as if Aromatics Elixir had had Gucci Guilty Absolute leather added to it, plus a touch of Dior Homme Parfum rose. It is elegantly at the maximum and powerful. It smells classic with a modern air. It is a must for lovers of vintage, Opium, Shalimar or Cabochard… If they sold it at triple the price in perfumeries, it would sell even more. Wonderful.

It seems like Clinique’s Aromatics Elixir with a dose of Gucci Guilty Absolute leather and a touch of rose from Dior Homme Parfum. It’s elegantly to the max, potent, and smells classic with a modern air. It’s a must for vintage lovers, Opium, Shalimar, or Cabochard… If they sold it at triple the price, it would sell out in minutes. Wonderful.

I do not usually write long reviews, but this is an exception; I hope it is useful to some. (Hermès, Bel Ami Vetiver) it reminded me instantly of other Hermès-style perfumes. The orange box and bottle confirm the impression. If you place yourself in that territory, you are right: Roudnitska or the first JC Ellena. It is clearly leather, but it does not recall Cabochard or Aramis (I have two formulations and they do not resemble each other; note, sometimes we talk about the same perfume with another name). Of Cabochard I only have the current one and I do not like it; it is a chaos of aldehydes, it smells dirty, neglected and unbalanced, as if they said ‘perfumes used to be made like this’. LJ is a woody chypre, that is where the comparison ends. It must be noted that within this family there are great differences. The key is that the leather assimilates to birch tar, not to suede or modern leathers like Tom Ford. LJ has a classical formal sense of composition, a tribute to an entire school (Leonard PH, IL by Lancetti, Caractère by Hechter, Or Noir by Morabito, Balafre, Scherrer 2, Boss 1, Ysatis, Givenchy, etc.). LJ is out of its time; the imprint is unquestionable. Does it make sense in 2023? That is another story, but provisionally yes. We do not know if it makes sense, but there are arguments not to smell like popcorn. I have bought three bottles and Zara has continued selling it. It exhumes warmth and balance, very addictive, seems a homage to the monuments of perfumery. It has soft aldehydes, avoids old edges, releases a touch of incense, patchouli, oakmoss, labdanum, a very tight hint of dirt, varnishes and the inevitable Hermès orange. When drying it is soapy, woody and cosy. I do not know if I have more praise left. Recommended if it makes you tingle with what is said. It costs about 20€ and for me what is inside has no price.

I bought it blind without testing and it was a pleasant surprise. It is like having Magie Noire by Lancôme again. It is a journey into the past. It is not for everyone; one must like intense and somewhat vintage aromas. To me, it seems a floral chypre with a leather touch. It transports me to autumn, to dark mystery. It evokes skin and seduction. It is a mature fragrance, more feminine than masculine. It is not cheerful or sparkling, but it is different and that I like.

I bought it for 10.95€, I imagine it was on clearance. The first time it surprised and frightened me with the strong old smell, like entering an antique shop, with a wet floral and flowers at the end of their journey. Over time it became woody and took on a subtle, worked and used leather scent, always accompanied by that faint floral. I put it on at noon and slept until early morning with that scent of white woods, suede and soft floral. I have used it three other times, afternoons and evenings. It is a strong aroma that takes you to another time; it no longer impresses me so much when spraying and it attracts attention. Mostly there are positive compliments, but of course, I am a 50-year-old gentleman and it surprises less. It gives me the sensation of smelling a mature man from the early 80s, childhood memories. I recommend it, but knowing it is not for everyone.

It’s a smoky leather scent that adds class! It smells like your father’s classic colognes when you were little, but with a more distinguished touch… Not for anyone under 25 or 28. To give you an idea, it reminds me of: Patrichs Pour Homme, Louis Philippe, Monaco Gucci, Guilty Absolute, and Gucci. Lasting power on skin is over 15 hours, and the trail or projection lasts about 6 to 8 hours.

A very classic fragrance; for me, it’s a fougère with a very potent rose heart. It feels more feminine than masculine. The leather isn’t the typical Tom Ford kind, but a much subtler leather.

I just bought it following a glowing review on Fragrantica. On my skin, it opens straight to leather and smoke; it’s original, nothing like the usual sweet, childish perfumes. The base is a dry, white smokiness, reminiscent of Calèche… I think I’ll mix it with something else to tone down its arrogance. By the way, the image, box, and overall Hermès style are stunning, with a beautiful bottle.

This Eau de Parfum reminds me hugely of the Eau de Hermès. I tested it on my arm 8 hours ago and I still identify it perfectly. I also associate it with Magic Noire. For leather lovers. Since my review on 20 November 2022, I’ve worn this Zara gem three times, and the number of compliments is impressive. Thank you, Jo Malone, for this wonder for Zara.

Brutal quality for the price. It gives me a little fright because it has that air of classic green, vintage leather, albeit modernised. Like at Zara, it’s linear but smells rich and high-quality from the first moment, with a counterpoint that suits it well, perhaps bergamot. It lasts a long time. A brand that costs five or six times more and sells it just as well.

This Zara gem arrived courtesy of Jo Malone. You can detect the citrus, rose, and leather. The opening is citrusy, but within minutes the floral notes emerge; occasionally it smells of tyres, I believe when the leather blends with the other elements. Worth it for the price because it breaks away from the standard.
This Zara wonder has fallen into my hands alongside Jo Malone. You can definitely smell the citrus, rose, and leather. The initial sensation is a citrus touch, but within minutes the floral notes emerge; sometimes I get a smell like rubber tyres, I imagine it’s when the leather comes out and combines with the other ingredients. I think it’s worth the price paid, as it steps out of the ordinary.
Today I went to Zara to buy fragrances and had to stop to smell this one; it’s a rose that’s too prominent for my taste, but the dry-down is delicious, with that slightly sweet leather. Despite the votes saying leather dominates most, I notice the opposite: a start with lots of rose and a woody dry-down. It will surely be my next purchase.
From time to time, Zara breaks all its marketing rules to launch best-selling perfumes and pulls out gems like this… a true classic of perfumery with a modern twist that makes the scent play between past and present… thanks Zara for bringing this wonder back to the shelves for the third time at an excellent price.
The listed notes can be misleading: it’s a green fragrance of a semi-classic style. I’d say it’s the Eau Sauvage by François Demachy, but in a Zara version. And it’s not bad at all, I must say.
Totally opposite to Zara’s usual trends: citrus, floral, and woody, but what really stands out is the smoky herbal aspect. It left me a bit knocked out; I never would have imagined something like this coming from Zara. If you’re the type who values compliments, steer clear; this isn’t for you. It’s dark, potent, mature, and very elegant, though also difficult to wear—and I like that. As for performance, it’s absolute madness in terms of longevity and projection; my ten out of ten.
I tried it at Zara and was instantly smitten: niche-quality fragrance at a ridiculously low price. Upon application, it hits with a bitter punch reminiscent of Guerlain’s Patchouli Ardant, but then settles into a dirty leather rose that lasts for hours. Later, it turns sweet with a subtle animalic leather note, lasting at least eight hours—something no other Zara scent has ever managed. It’s a mature, hard-to-wear perfume, exactly what I like; a delightful surprise that I would have paid triple for based on the bottle and branding alone.
I tried it in a Zara store and fell in love at first sniff: niche quality at an absurdly low price. Upon application, it delivers a bitter punch reminiscent of Guerlain Patchouli Ardant, but then it settles and the rose emerges with a dirty leather note, holding on for a long time. Later it turns sweet, with the animalic leather dominating—slightly sweet but very subtle. It lasts very well for at least eight hours, something no Zara scent has ever given me before. It’s a mature, hard-to-wear fragrance, and that’s exactly what I love. A delightful surprise from Zara; if this were in a more expensive bottle, I’d have paid triple.
Smells rich and lasts for ages; it’s a real luxury fragrance.
It smells rich and lasts an incredibly long time; it’s a true luxury fragrance.
Opens with citrus, moves into leather and stays there. For the price, it’s nothing to sneeze at. Reminds me of Habit Rouge with its citrus opening and a leather base that’s later overtaken by vanilla. After wearing it a few more times, it bears a certain resemblance to Dior’s Jules. Regarding the others mentioned as similar, I’d say they lack the hesperidic notes in the opening and focus more on leather.

After wearing it several times, it bears a certain resemblance to Dior’s Jules. Compared to other similar scents, these lack hesperidic top notes and focus more on the leather.
It doesn’t feel like a clone of Magie Noire; it’s green, spicy, and heavy on civet. It smells like an 80s perfume with a witchy vibe: starts with a soapy galbanum, then moves to herbs, chilli, and a vintage soap note. If you like Chanel No 19, Coco Chanel, Aramis, or vintage scents, this is for you.
