Legend Red by Montblanc

Forgive me if this isn’t a proper review, I just wanted to reply to Jhsc… If a perfume doesn’t last… Moreover, if it doesn’t project (how many last twelve hours but project so little that a tear falls off you), then you’ve already bought that bottle. Another one from the same house and model (or sometimes another) won’t be purchased. That bottle will be used up quickly, but when the last drop is gone you’ll already be thinking of another model, another house, and it won’t be due to a lack of options. Arabs sometimes have low prices and other times high, but perfumes that most people notice are being worn because they don’t stay skin-deep for five minutes. I fell head over heels buying the Encre Noir from the nose (never mind the expression), although there weren’t cheap decants either, and what a boring thing that doesn’t project and barely smells skin-deep. It seems (I repeat, seems, because it’s a hard egg to guess) to smell like a damp forest, something like a mysterious Salvador Dalí pour Homme. And sometimes it smells of black ink to me. But it’s almost water and very depressing. I won’t buy another bottle nor drink enough wine. The Salvador Dalí will surely fail. So their move pays off at the start… But then it becomes harder. In the free market there is freedom, and they will know what risks to take…

Legend Red, a new flanker of the legendary Mont Blanc. It’s as if they fused Dolce & Gabbana’s The One Gold, for that potent blood orange note, with the woody dry-down of the Legend line. The scent is rich, but the trail and longevity are rather low; I see it as a summer perfume for hot days or for heading to the gym (not my case, haha). It adds little to the Legend universe; I’d only recommend buying it if you catch it at a brilliant bargain. The best of all is the Eau de Parfum, with good longevity and a spectacular scent, more mature. I’d follow that with the classic EDT, although nowadays its longevity is poor. Third place goes to Legend Night, which has the vibe of a youthful perfume for hitting the clubs.

Legend Red by Montblanc is citrus, aromatic, and woody. Citrus opening, similar to Versace Eros Flame due to the blood orange. Also in this phase, it feels semi-sweet and slightly spiced. After nearly an hour, it loses its citrus spark and becomes more woody, slightly green, with a foresty sensation. In this final phase, it reminds me a bit of D&G K. It’s semi-fresh; I recommend it for spring, autumn, and cool summer days. Versatile situations: from office to casual outings. Longevity with me was about 8 hours, with moderate projection. Like almost the whole Legend line, it’s easy to like, a bit more modern and versatile, but I recommend testing it before buying.

When applied, it smells very strong and projects intensely over three metres; colleagues who didn’t know what I was wearing told me it smelled good. The first five hours are potent, then it drops significantly and stays in a personal bubble where those passing by can still smell it weakly, and by eight hours it disappears completely even if you bring your nose close. The Legend Parfum lasts longer. For me, the Red smells more intense and richer than the regular version. The regular Legend smells rich but I find it very simple, even in projection, and this version surpasses it, although its longevity leaves much to be desired.

Tested from a sample gift bought a year ago. Although it didn’t convince me at the time, I always let perfumes macerate until the moment of truth arrives. The day has come to revisit it: the opening pleased me, despite not being intentional. We were doing well until it simply vanished. In a quiet moment at work I applied it, came back fifteen minutes later, smelled my hand and it was gone. I don’t work in pools or construction sites, and even in those cases the swindle Montblanc proposed with all its pride in 2022 would not be forgivable. Shame.

Tested as a gift a year ago. Although I didn’t like it at first, I always give it a spray to let it mature until the truth comes out. The day has arrived: the opening I liked, although it’s not projecting. We were doing well until it disappeared. At a quiet moment at work I sprayed it again, went back to it about 15 minutes later, smelled my hand and it was gone. I don’t work in swimming pools or on hard construction sites, and even in such cases, the scam Montblanc proposed to us with all its pride in 2022 is unforgivable. SHAME.

Starts with a citrus and fruity touch, but as it dries down it leans towards woody notes without completely losing that initial freshness. I arrived with little enthusiasm as other Montblancs like the Explorer or Legend Spirit didn’t suit me, but this one has surprised me: it’s the youngest and cheeriest of the range. Ideal for younger people, it’s not intrusive in the office and perfect for everyday wear or casual outings, although there are better options for evening wear or cold weather.

Good morning! I bought this fragrance on a weekend trip for $35. The scent is fresh and citrusy, excellent for summer and for carrying in a toiletry bag or travel case, although the longevity is scarce, about 3-4 hours. For the price, I cannot complain, despite it being an EDP. It was a good blind buy: versatile and elegant without being overpowering. For everyday wear, I would give it a 7.5 out of 10; I would buy it again if I find it at a good price.

It is a very rich perfume, but it lasts less than a fart in a basket, and that makes me sad. I bought it at a freeshop on the Buquebus, and due to the lack of signal on the boat, I could not check the longevity on Fragrantica. Had I known it lasted so little, I would not have bought it. Leaving the longevity aside, the smell is rich, very masculine, fresh, and as it should be. What a pity about the longevity.

My review is unreliable as I only tested it briefly while passing by. It smells fresh, fruity and citrusy at the start, mixed with the rough sensation of sage and berries that give it brightness, a wonderful note. The noble cedar feels soft, although that citrus vigour is never lost. I see it as perfect for dusk.

Hello, tasty scent that does not disappoint in aroma. Manly and perfect as a signature for moderate temperatures. The only flaw is that longevity and projection only meet the bare minimum… though one must consider how affordable it is to judge it properly. Buy if you catch it on offer. Rating: 7.5/10

Disappointing this Legend Red by Montblanc: a delicious orange opening, then a citrus note that evaporates from the skin incredibly fast. No longevity or sillage, just another flanker. The bottle is pretty and adds to the collection, but I wouldn’t buy it again; nothing new or different.

In this ‘new’ launch from Mont Blanc, it has the same citrus base as Legend Spirit, nothing special and without woods. Just ugly, rough sweetness. It’s versatile and that’s it. If you have the Spirit, you won’t miss anything. Rating 4/10
