  • A great discovery and very different from other Kilian scents. My aim was to try Angels due to the hype, but I dismissed it and decided on this one, which wasn’t on my radar. Nothing like Angels, yet it proved fascinating. I’ve worn it for a few days and like it a lot. Its fresh, alcoholic opening alongside a heart of natural licorice with star anise is completely addictive; you end up smelling your wrist every five minutes, wondering if you like it. In the dry-down, the licorice and anise gradually fade to make way for vetiver, patchouli and woods, losing that surprising edge. I kept the 50ml format bought in Andorra at a dignified price for a Kilian. The wallet just doesn’t stretch further. It’s strange there aren’t more reviews!

  • Oh, it broke my heart a little, in a good way. It reminded me so much of my maternal grandfather coming with my grandmother for Christmas from the village, laden with sweets, liqueurs, nuts and oranges. That scent of his embrace, his old leather jacket, the products in his toiletry bag and the sweet wine… just like our car smelled when we returned home with them. L’Heure Verte is Christmas and winter-appropriate, ideal for feeling wrapped up in snow: green notes soar over a classic, enveloping anise (absinthe), accompanied by very wearable licorice. It’s a beautiful and traditional perfume, and I’ve smelled few with such a pronounced anise note, which gradually shifts to those comforting vapours of toiletries and shaving lotions, pure relaxation.

  • L’Heure Verte is the best of the liqueur collection. If you know Au Masculin, you’ll get an idea of where this fragrance is heading. It opens boozy, sweet and spiced. Its dry-down is heavenly; it’s like having the best of Au Masculin but deeper and more complex, adding a gourmand profile and much more power, making it a far more robust perfume. If I had to say which scents it resembles, I’d say it’s a perfect blend of the best of Au Masculin and A*men, all with quality and no sharp edges. Perfumery is ruled by trends; Angels’ Share is at the top of the trends, and speaking objectively, this exquisite scent doesn’t even reach its ankles. TRY IT and stop following trends.

  • L’Heure Verte is the king of the liqueur collection. If you know Au Masculin, you already have the key: it opens boozy, sweet and spiced, but its dry-down is heavenly. It’s a perfect blend of the best of Au Masculin and A*men, all with quality and no sharp edges. While Angels’ Share is at the top of the trends, objectively this scent doesn’t even reach its ankles. TRY IT and stop following fads.
