  • It’s mainly a sweet perfume. It reminded me of others like Cacharel’s Amor Amor or YSL’s Manifesto. I pick up on the licorice and vanilla very easily; the rest of the components are more subtle on my nose. I’m not passionate about it, but it’s a pleasant scent; yes, I couldn’t wear it daily because I’d get bored. I imagine it on a young girl, with that youthful air, sweet but bold at the same time. I’ve read that some compare it to Thierry Mugler’s Angel; for me, they have absolutely nothing in common. Angel is unbearable to me, and I can’t find similar notes in it.

  • The result of the love affair between Alien and Lolita Lempicka has given birth to this wonderful love potion. The innovative touch is the gardenia. I think it’s a charming fragrance.

  • At first this scent is very rich when you apply it, but I’m afraid to say it hardly lasts at all. I prefer perfumes that last. It’s a pity because it’s expensive, smells very good, but as a perfume, it doesn’t last.

  • gioconda

It’s very good, sweet but not cloying. I think it should be used with the shower gel so its aroma is enhanced and it lasts longer.

  • the churumbel

It seems to me a fine fragrance for the woman of today: dynamic, intelligent, creative, tailored to girls of this time. I love the strength with which it opens its doors and invites you into its heart full of licorice and floral aromas… wonderful, I love it.

I love this perfume. I’m not a fan of licorice, but this one smells wonderful. The first spray is pure licorice, all kinds of sweet licorice. The star anise is very strong at first, but it settles quickly and the sweet citrus and floral notes emerge, very pleasant. My favourite part is the trail: subtle licorice notes surrounded by vanilla. It has a sweet and refreshing quality that I adore.

  • Diesel Loverdose, my first perfume. It all started when my ex-brother-in-law and I went to the perfumerie to buy my sister a Christmas present. After sniffing about 10 or 12 perfumes, we came across Black XS L’excès and Loverdose; both were penetrating and sweet. We thought my sister would prefer Black XS and left the other on the shelf, but I was completely captivated by that little purple crystal heart. I’d never smelled anything like it; it was like cinnamon, burnt cinnamon. I remember it perfectly and couldn’t stop thinking about taking it with me. After months of being very ‘subtle’ (the opposite) with my boyfriend to get him to buy it for me, I finally had it last Christmas. Now I see it on my shelf and think: what would I have been without you? Loverdose is perfect for lovers of spices and sweet, feminine scents. The first note is anise, but not the strong, bitter masculine kind, but a sweet, feminine one. Then comes something synthetic, like syrup or licorice, very sweet. Thirdly, I’d say there’s a fruity note, candied and creamy orange. It brings back so many memories, gives me good vibes, and is essential when I need to feel good and comfortable with myself. If I had to say something negative, it’s perhaps the longevity; it feels a bit short. But apart from that, it’s a 10.

  • For lovers of sweet scents, licorice and anise… it’s not my cup of tea, I didn’t like it, although I admit it’s quite bold.

  • I’ve been using this for years and I’m running low; I used to wear it daily because for me, perfumes depend on my mood, not the day, and I was always very happy xD. It’s a very sweet scent with a bitter touch that makes it special; it lasts quite a while on the skin and has a moderate trail. I still wear it when I’m wide awake, active, and feeling like doing a thousand things at once, because it’s a scent that accompanies you and adapts no matter what you do. It’s not heavy, but neither is it delicate.

  • Do you like subtle sweet perfumes? This one is for you. My husband doesn’t like overwhelming floral or sweet fragrances that give headaches; this one isn’t like that. That’s why he likes it. It’s more sophisticated and delicate, very feminine; when I smell it, a refined woman comes to mind, in a blazer or dress, especially with heels. I think it’s for women between 22 and 50, confident in themselves. I’d wear it in the late afternoon; it’s very versatile and can be used for any occasion. I had a sample; it doesn’t kill me to rush and buy it, but it’s not that it’s bad; my husband liked it. To each their own taste. If someone gifts it to me, I’d use it, but I wouldn’t go for it like crazy. Trail 9/10, Longevity 8.1/10, Scent 8.1/10.

An intoxicatingly sweet scent due to its licorice; it is long-lasting, has a good trail, and personality. Ideally for going out at night in cold weather; I can’t imagine it in the morning on a hot day.

  • I can’t believe the luck I’ve had with this perfume. I’ve wanted it for some time and today I found the large bottle discounted by more than half because it came without a box and in perfect condition. As I said, a great opportunity. It’s very much my taste. At first, you feel the licorice above all. It reminds me of Lolita Lempicka, I suppose due to the mix of anise, licorice, and vanilla. It leaves a very rich, sweet, and appetising base. Truly, it’s a ‘dose of love’.

There was a time when Diesel had low credibility and low prices, making them accessible and without quality commitment, and from there emerged its best pieces, like the Green line, which presented itself with dignity, worthy of being the cousin of Fresh by Moschino. As a cosmic joke, its prices and credibility rose in the late 2000s alongside the drop in quality, from the vulgar Bad to the mediocre Only the Brave. Loverdose is a female pillar of arrogant Diesel (in relation to price). On one hand, it has appreciable qualities; on the other, a structure similar to what is scarce in complexity and is tetramically unbalanced. It begins with a thick note of licorice and anise, with a touch of mandarin, passes through an almost imperceptible floral transition, and ends with spiced oriental vanilla (all at indecorously subtle levels). Loverdose takes aspects from Le Premier Parfum by Lolita Lempicka and fuses them with secondary notes from Classique by Jean Paul Gaultier, without first adding a bit of nihilism and conformity (betrayed by its linear and predictable development). It is a fragrance created with a simple idea: sweetness is in fashion. However, in a market stuffed with La Vie Est Belle or exothermically sweet things, there is a segment that asks for more relaxed and less transgressive fragrances. Loverdose responds to that: it has a touch of mystery, uses the fruit-gourmand infusion technique without pretending to cause diabetes, belonging to the same current as Bonbon by Viktor&Rolf or La Vie Est Belle in less concentrated formats. The heart-shaped bottle gives a romantic and mysterious impression, but Loverdose is only that in appearance; it has an indifferent and taciturn humour, it is not suggestive or particularly seductive, it has a cold and melancholic charm, which gives it originality in a market of poisonous girls and naive positivist philosophers. The trail is faint and longevity extensive; it is not the quintessence of rule-breakers, but it is a pleasant fragrance, I don’t see it as a waste (although it costs less than they charge).

Loverdose was a gift from my husband; he knows I adore sweet scents and bought it for Valentine’s Day; since then, it’s been my drug… This perfume has something that boosts your hormone levels, what a marvel! This purple bottle has a lot, too much! Licorice and vanilla, and I love that so much that when it runs out, I’ll ask for another.

  • It’s very versatile; despite how sweet it is, I think it’s suitable for spring due to the fresh opening the mandarin gives it, very soft, highlighting the anise and licorice. I feel it’s ideal to apply after a shower to feel sweet and fresh. It’s not one I’d repeat in my collection; I prefer Red Kiss, but I don’t dislike its aroma.

  • It’s wonderful! Coquettish bottle, sweet, enveloping, long-lasting, and warm. I’m fascinated by it; it reminds me of more expensive perfumes. I’d buy it again with my eyes closed. Recommended.

  • I absolutely love it! Obviously not for hot days. But for autumn, winter, and spring, yes. It’s sweet without being cloying. Above all, I detect the star anise, and since I love putting a star anise in my infusions… Well, although it doesn’t last long on my skin (about three hours), its rich scent makes up for it. I think it’s a matter of skin chemistry, as no perfume lasts this long on me.

  • pamela perfumera

A bit overwhelming for me; I only adore the dry-down. It projects well and leaves a trail. The licorice note is very prominent. It’s good, ideal for winter; in summer it might be too much. Ultimately, it smells like Lolita Lempicka on my skin. I thought I’d love it for the notes, but there’s something that makes it dense and heavy. What a pity there wasn’t a chemistry between us.

  • Wonderful. Sweet without being heavy. Zesty, flirtatious, cheerful and youthful. I love the scent it leaves on the skin once it has settled. You can’t stop smelling yourself and people always ask what perfume you’re wearing. It’s marvellous. To my taste, it leaves a delicious almond note. I’ve just added it to my collection and I love it!

  • rafajurado

A very intense fragrance, very similar to Lolita Lempicka or La Petite Robe Noir due to its licorice and anise notes. Personally, I don’t like these ingredients, especially in a perfume. However, it has excellent longevity, tenacity and projection.

  • Sweet and special for cold days, winter, and chilly nights. Yesterday I tried Angel by Thierry Mugler and Lolita Lempicka, and they have nothing in common with this, nor does it resemble them. This is a super wearable aroma with medium sillage, and it lasts all day for me. I see it as suitable for young people and young adults, but an older lady could perfectly wear it. Its dry-down is exquisite. It reminds me greatly of Ralph Lauren’s Hot; they share similar notes.

  • Diesel LoVERDoSE: This month is my anniversary and I was searching for a new, special, and different perfume that would enchant both my husband and me, one that complements the heat of dancing, which we love, and night outings; in other words, party-ready yet romantic… difficult, but I found it! Diesel LoVERDoSE contains molecules that stimulate the hypothalamus, the part of the brain responsible for attraction. It is a very romantic fragrance. The name is a pun: ‘Lover Dose’ or ‘Love Overdose’—a beautiful weapon made of scent to ignite passions! The composition is a spicy floral, fresh upon opening with star anise and mandarin. The surprise arrives at ten minutes: it transforms into a seductive bomb. Sambac jasmine petals, licorice, and gardenia form the heart, over an oriental dry-down of amber, patchouli, vanilla, and wood. It has a hint of liquor that reminds me of exquisite Peruvian pisco. It smells lovely, sweet, floral, citrusy, and deep. The bottle is beautiful, one of the most stunning I have seen. The sweetness of the licorice is prominent but not cloying; it is a delicious caramel. This achieves that uplift of the spirits, putting warmth in the heart and a smile on the face, cheerful. It is a very romantic perfume. Like the joy of love, it captures that essence. I like it for any season, it lasts until the next shower, and it has excellent sillage. The bottle deserves an award like the scent: romance and joy in a bottle designed symbolically as an arrowed heart with intense purple tones, a beauty! Warning: IT CAN BE ADDICTIVE!💜

  • The scent is quite sweet, very good if you like creamy, vanilla and sweet perfumes. However, I regret buying it; for me its trail is non-existent and its longevity is also poor.

  • It’s a Lolita Lempicka with a bolder, more sensual edge. However, the main notes, anise and licorice, are so characteristic of Lolita that comparison is unavoidable… I wouldn’t have two of the same… I prefer the Diesel packaging, although of course it’s a bit more expensive. In terms of value for money, I think Lolita wins, but well, it’s another option.

  • CYNTHIA1980

Charming! The anise is very noticeable; it’s so lovely, enveloping and elegant. I struggled to get hold of it as it’s already discontinued, but I finally have it in my collection. I’ll treasure it and enjoy it with great affection.

  • It’s sweet and the anise notes dominate. It tastes delicious, though I’d like it to have more projection. Anyway, it’s a delightful fragrance.

  • The anise is very noticeable; it’s an exquisite fragrance, but for me it’s quite soft with weak projection and short longevity. On my skin it lasts about three hours and eventually sits right up against the skin. Nevertheless, I adore it.

  • I’m reviewing this because I own it; my sister gifted it to me. The bottle is beautiful, I love it, and it suits my personality, which is probably why she chose it. But I don’t like anise in perfumes, I can’t detect the mandarin, and what becomes overwhelming after a while are the florals; at least on my chemistry, they’re exhausting, smelling too strong and lasting until the next day, which would be great if I liked them xd. Anyway, I only keep it in my collection for the gorgeous bottle, and I think it should only be worn in cold weather if your pH is like mine, where the florals always come out too much.

I heard it today at Perfumerías Unidas, thank goodness they’ve brought new perfumes to my country. This isn’t available in large department stores, because it’s a gem. But my goodness, what a delight. It should have been the true Black Opium Nuit Blanche, as I feel they’re similar, but without that powdery touch; it’s simply sweet and anise-forward. Strong trail, distinctive, better than what I own, simple yet not strident, elegant, nocturnal and timeless. Not overwhelming for daily wear. A wonderful scent and best of all, it’s accessible.

  • The opening is dominated by mandarin, quite fresh and defined. Afterwards, it’s all licorice and subtle anise. It lasts a fair while on my skin, despite reading contrary reviews. However, it’s simply too licorice-heavy for me.

  • aromadicta

This little perfume is very sweet; you have to be careful not to overdo it 😆 I’m not a huge fan of overly sweet fragrances, but I like to wear it occasionally. It’s fun, smelling like an addictive, syrupy little treat. The anise is quite prominent, so I wouldn’t wear it every day—never, never, haha—I wouldn’t want it to get boring.

  • Oh, this perfume brings back so many memories. It was one of the first I added to my collection, and I hold a fond recollection of its scent. It’s very sweet, quite anise-forward, with a noticeable licorice note as it dries down. It has real personality. Lasts around six hours and leaves a dense trail.

  • Mademoiselle

It’s the only perfume that has given me two chances, solely because the bottle is beautiful. It’s a lovely spiced vanilla with presence for cold weather. On my skin, the flowers and mandarin don’t develop; instead, the anise and licorice intensify so much that, although the sillage is low enough not to bother others, I simply can’t stand it—it suffocates me and gives me stomach pain. I’ve stopped wearing it because I don’t want perfumes just for the bottle; I prefer someone else to wear it well.

  • Julietaisidora

I find it exquisite, though I wish it had more projection. Does anyone know a similar scent but stronger?

  • I’ve been repurchasing Loverdose since 2013. It’s oriental, sweet, and vanilla-based, yet well-balanced. The spicy citrus opening with anise and mandarin is highly addictive. Then the licorice, with its boozy touch, takes over, reminiscent of Lolita Lempicka, though Loverdose feels warmer and suits evening better. Tolerating the anise-licorice blend is key. Its vanilla is velvety and not overpowering. I wear it in autumn-winter at a low dose because, in enclosed spaces, it projects strongly. Impossible not to mention the faceted heart-shaped bottle, fitting the name and that narcotic fragrance seeking a ‘love overdose’. Usually available at a good price in retail in Chile, excellent value for money.

  • Loverdose is a bold, addictive bomb designed to turn heads. It opens with the spicy freshness of star anise and a mandarin spark, a vibrant and provocative start. At its heart lies the queen note: sweet, dark licorice, blending with jasmine and gardenia to create a floral-gourmand contrast. The base is warm and enveloping: creamy vanilla, amber, and woods, leaving a lasting, feminine, and magnetic trail. Ideal for those who are mysterious, seductive, and rebellious. Perfect for night, dates, or moments where you want to stand out with an intense, uncommon scent.
