  This was my disco perfume when I was a teenager. It was strong enough so I wouldn’t smell of cigarettes and lasted all night. Actually, it belonged to my grandmother, but she didn’t wear it as she preferred others that had been given to her, so I ended up using it and loved it. It was the late eighties and, although no one ever told me I smelled like an old lady, I only reserved it for those night outings. Over the years I swapped it for Poison by Christian Dior for the same purpose 🙂

  A beautiful floral perfume with semi-oriental nuances. Absolutely rich and intoxicating. The hyacinth, moss and myrrh are articulated perfectly and harmoniously; the carnation and galbanum shine in the background. I love that creamy sweetness: over time the floral notes take centre stage and the texture becomes slightly powdery. After a few hours, the scent sounded familiar to me: clearly the chords of Guy Laroche’s Fidji were there, hyacinth, galbanum, iris and other shared notes. The resemblance is enormous, except Norell is more potent with a spicier touch. Nothing is coincidental: the same nose created both fragrances with just two years’ difference.
