Cartier’s oriental signature is in a league of its own. I and animalic oud simply do not get along, but here is an exception: it achieves elegance and discretion, barely present at the outset, soft and pleasant, finely polished over a dark and exquisite base. I love it; it is silky, refined and elegant, with notes of sweet and spicy plum. A lovely fragrance; if you are accustomed to other ouds, it may seem understated, but for 90% of people it is ideal. The care evident in the composition is apparent from the first spray, a different level of refinement, nothing penetrating, soft, creamy and fluid. It reminds me of a soft silk scarf that wraps around me. The plum makes it almost gourmand, not too woody or earthy; I believe I also detect saffron. If it were not so expensive, I would take this oud with my plum cake; as the world stands today, I shall live with a slight longing.
