I agree with the previous reviewer: the opening is unusual, a scent that makes you think, ‘What on earth have I put on?’. Then it evolves and the harmony comes together, rounding off into a woody, spiced fragrance with a soapy incense note that becomes noticeable as it develops; it’s elegant and not aggressive.
Theoretically it’s just Oud, but on the skin it recalls other Cartier scents, a bit of this and a bit of that. It opens with that quasi-medical smell of genuine Oud, which I find a little strong and almost unpleasant, but within minutes it evolves into the classic woody tone. Those who know pure Oud will say it’s similar. It then continues with resinous or slightly amber notes over that woody base, in a very beautiful phase with good projection and longevity. It’s a woody oriental, but not cloying or ultra-opulent. If you like the genre, you’ll surely enjoy this Cartier, although its price places it in the luxury segment.
