  Bottega Veneta’s Pear is not what you’d expect from its name; the entire Parco Palladiano line consists of unique, artistic fragrances with immense olfactory quality. It’s a green and spicy blend that avoids the fruity, synthetic, and excessive sweetness often found in the market. The opening is cold and spicy, with black pepper as the undisputed star, dominating the entire composition. In the dry-down, it’s accompanied by a cool mint, but always as a supporting note that never overshadows the pepper. The actual pear is absent; instead, there’s the wood of the pear tree, which gradually emerges alongside sage to create a green, herbal facet. Of the other declared notes, I barely detect the tea as a faint whisper at the end. The rose, patchouli, and musk are either nonexistent or contribute almost no body. Like most in the line, it has moderate performance. I can’t think of any similar scent except Toy Boy, to which it bears absolutely no resemblance. If you’re looking for something similar, it might approach Zara Wood Street WO/02, but without the incense element.
