I don’t detect the tiramisu, but the whiskey is noticeable straight out of the bottle, bordering on tipsy. As it dries down, it becomes a blurred sweetness wrapping around a pleasant, easy-to-wear oud with a touch of animalic character. The trail is moderate and lasts 7-8 hours. It resembles Crazy for Oud, though I prefer Precious Oud less; the latter is sweeter, but the oud in the other smells cleaner and more balanced. I’ve tried layering it with Lataffa’s Oud Mood and with Crazy for Oud itself; both combinations add depth and make it feel less incomplete. With Lataffa, it gains sweetness and distinction, while with Mancera, the animalic side comes through more. Neither has won me over; they are fragrances for relaxing at home or layering, and I don’t justify owning them solely for that at this price. Once I finish my travel sizes, I won’t be restocking. Scent 5/10, longevity 7.5/10, sillage 7/10, value for money 4/10, versatility 5/10, packaging 7/10. I wouldn’t buy again.
Occasionally I try a perfume and find myself at odds with previous reviews, which is why I appreciate decants to avoid blind buys. This often happens with Mancera. I expected something different: a tipsy aspect of Bentley, a Ferragamo Uomo-style tiramisu, and a classic house oud. Nowhere near the reality. It’s a confusing, synthetic composition lacking structural clarity; the chords blend without finesse. The rose, moss, and oud are noticeable at first, but the tiramisu doesn’t even reach a tenth of what’s in Uomo. With a generally disappointing scent, the sillage and longevity don’t inspire confidence. I don’t understand the hype over a ‘hidden gem’; for me, it’s one of Mancera’s poorest efforts to date.
Straight out of the bottle, a very pleasant whiskey, nothing invasive or with that K.O. punch like Unique’s Kutay. It has excellent longevity and dries down into a sweet scent with a tiramisu note. The floral and woody notes aren’t very prominent. From start to finish, it’s a great perfume: very evolving, pleasant, and friendly. It’s a joy to wear. It’s one of my favourite Mancera fragrances. I recommend buying it blind if you can tolerate the whiskey and sweetness. It’s purely for autumn and winter use.
Precious Oud has a tipsy, smoky opening that shifts in minutes to a sweet and sexy aroma. It’s not a gourmand sweetness, but rather citrusy, which makes it unisex; that’s where the magic lies: it attracts a lot of attention if worn by a gentleman, and if a lady wears it, it’s mega sexy and not heavy. The oud gives it the precise touch of elegance needed to work perfectly for both sexes. A Mancera that is definitely worth knowing.
I bought a decant and at first it was a strong, heavy scent that I didn’t like… but after a few minutes, once it settled on my skin, the magic appeared. On my skin, it smells sweet but not gourmand, woody, bordering on masculine and very sensual. I need to wear it more; once it’s on my skin, I can’t stop smelling it. I think I’ll get the full bottle.
