River of Love by La Rive is a fruity-floral-gourmand fragrance for women. Launched in 2000, this composition features top notes of coconut, blackcurrant leaves, cotton candy, pineapple, jasmine, bergamot, mandarin and melon. The heart unfolds honey, caraway, jasmine, blackberry, rose, orchid, lily of the valley, nutmeg, plum, red fruits, peach and gooseberry. Finally, the base notes reveal patchouli, dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel, amber, tonka bean, sandalwood and musk.

I love La Rive perfumes, I must admit, but this is the first one that didn’t quite take my fancy. It’s good, lasting six hours with a moderate trail, but the honey and patchouli combination feels a bit heavy. Both notes give it an odd intensity. Perhaps my nose will get used to it over time; I hope so, haha.
Excellent alternative to Mugler’s Angel; on my skin, the honey note stands out, very pleasant and suitable for daily wear. The performance exceeds expectations for the price: it lasts 5 to 6 hours on skin with high-to-moderate sillage, followed by another couple of hours closer to the skin. Compared to New Brand’s Blue Sky, it is much more wearable and accomplished. The patchouli is subtler than in the original but still perceptible.

Delicious perfume, very similar to the Angel EDT. It projects for about three hours in extreme heat, but on clothes it lasts longer… Highly recommended.
A very similar scent to the original. On my skin, it has weak projection and regular-to-good longevity. I wear it in the morning while walking outdoors; for the price, it is well worth it. The bottle material and finish feel better quality than what you pay for, except the cap matches the cost.

A great alternative to the perfume it is based on. I like this brand for testing expensive fragrances before buying them; it gives you a taste of the experience and sometimes matches perfectly. The performance of La Rive of Love is moderate: it is complex, chemical and potent, yet more wearable than Mugler’s Angel, which is a plus. The bottle looks nice.
I have both the Angel sample and the La Rive version in hand; they are so identical that I wonder if the sample is genuine, save for the paper label and the engraved name. The La Rive version starts off more alcoholic, but dries down to nearly 98% the same as the original.
