Rozu smells wonderful, understated yet full of character. It’s linear and simple, though the projection and longevity are a bit weak; that’s part of its Japanese essence, which doesn’t aim to be loud or complicated. It’s a rose that isn’t bright or aquatic, as the guaiac wood and shiso (plus pink pepper) darken it, turning it into a very unisex, woody green rose, nothing like the usual aquatic florals. The guaiac wood is perfectly chosen to blend with the rose, soft and elegant, creamy with smoky and incense nuances. There might be a hint of patchouli at the base and a slight citrus touch, but no more. It’s a well-thought-out and coherent fragrance. I wouldn’t say it’s super modern; it has a slightly vintage feel, more timeless, though it’s very wearable for someone young (you need personality to wear it well, as with any quality scent). Although it’s pricey, it’s a good choice, especially for autumn or spring, not for extreme cold or heat.
