It smells of ginger, lemon, and a hint of pepper with a certain floral depth that extends the scent. It’s like a premium, less medicinal version of Álvarez Gómez. It smells very well, although the camphorated ginger finish doesn’t quite convince me entirely.

Santalla, formerly known as La Esencia de Santa Eulalia, is a fragrance that surprises by blending freshness with something mysterious. It’s not quite my personal style, but its simplicity gives it a unique charm that suits many. The moment you wear it, it smells of pure energy: the lemon and bergamot, with that crisp green apple note, cleanse and invigorate, while the ginger adds a spicy kick that awakens the senses immediately. Over time, it evolves into something deeper; cardamom and incense blend with sandalwood and vetiver to create a warm base that contrasts beautifully with its fresh opening. It’s this evolution on the skin that makes it special. Furthermore, it has a story behind it: it is dedicated to Santa Eulalia, the patron saint of Barcelona, a brave and devout woman. Her story of faith and martyrdom adds extra meaning, turning it into a tribute to the strength of the spirit. Ultimately, Santalla is a unique fragrance thanks to these contrasts and its history. Not everyone will love it, but it is a versatile option for those seeking something that evolves with you throughout the day.
Santalla is the perfect counterpoint to the other fragrances from the brand, which tend to be dense and dark. This one smells fresh, bright, and effervescent, like a gin tonic without actually being one. It begins with airy ginger, apple, and cardamomo, giving it energy. The base of Ambroxan and transparent woods provides good longevity and a pleasant dry-down that doesn’t detract from the freshness. I really enjoy it; it’s cheerful, easy to wear, and has excellent performance.
Santalla is clearly the fresh counterpart to nBitor’s darker fragrances. It reminds me of a gin tonic without actually being one: bright, effervescent, and very energetic thanks to the airy ginger, apple, and cardamomo at the start. It rests on Ambroxan and transparent woods that fix well and leave a pleasant dry-down without losing its freshness. I really enjoy it; it’s cheerful, easy to wear, and has good performance. Cheers!
I picked it up on a whim at a perfumerie in Barcelona and was blown away: ‘This smells good!’. I was surprised by how fresh and green it is, with a retro touch that doesn’t feel dated. It’s nothing sophisticated, but those who enjoy barber-shop scents and green fragrances will adore it. I’ve already added it to my shopping list, although the price is a bit high.
