  Shalimar Souffle 2018 smells like a soufflé to me, but not like Shalimar at all. It opens with a fluffy lemon and a vanilla note distinct from the classic. It is pleasant, soft, and ethereal, yet it lacks its mother’s soul entirely. I understand that for Shalimar fans this is a letdown, as I have found no similarity in any phase. It is a refined jasmine concept by Thierry Wasser, very cosy, which only recalls the Gardens of Shalimar. In my humble opinion, it would have been better to call it simply Souffle or Garden Souffle. I suppose the name is inevitable due to the bottle, which gives personality to these annual flankers. The musk is lovely, not piercing, everything is sublime, but I am surprised by the lack of character. I suspect that seeing it with that name makes it impossible not to compare it and lose sight of the personality of Shalimar EDP or EDT. Be warned, do not buy blindly if you are looking for a scent that smells like Shalimar. If you want an absolute jasmine with something sweet, musky, and soft vanilla, give it a try. If you want to collect the bottle, it is perfect, it is incredible and beautiful. I will use it in summer because the citrus is not overwhelming, it is soft, light, and pleasant. I bought it on offer, but if you spend 100 euros at the few places that stock it, be careful, it is a letdown as a jasmine. I admit I was not let down because I already knew it did not smell like Shalimar, I had read reviews and wanted the bottle to collect. Here is irrefutable proof of using a legend’s name to sell, other houses do it, this one was no exception.”]
