  • This is artificial vanilla and musk with a hint of citrus and that is all. There is no leather, no smoky vanilla and above all no talcated iris, which is what I miss the most. The perfume is harmless and pretty, something for daily wear that everyone likes but surprises no one. It fulfils the role of a luxury brand perfume without more, saying nothing and not expecting anything magnificent.

I just bought it and I loved it. It is vanilla with a touch of citrus, but elegant with the Guerlain seal. I always wanted the Shalimar but it felt too much for me; I can handle this version better. I really liked it.

After smelling several versions of my beloved Guerlain Shalimar, which I still adore today but has been so mutilated by reformulations that it feels defeated by the ghost of my olfactory memory, I longed for the perfume that once was. I thought I would absolutely dislike another flanker, and I WAS WRONG. I would define Shalimar Soufflé as a sweet elegance, like the finest pastry from a French bakery. To put it another way, it would be a beautiful, sweet and ethereal Audrey Hepburn dressed in an Oscar de la Renta gown. Nowadays, creatives often opt for sweet, candy-like or gourmand fragrances that are often crude and similar to one another; with this perfume, that rule is broken. It is perfectly executed, boasting an insane balance between citrus, sweet and vanilla notes, surrounded by lovely white flowers. Every time I wear it, I feel as though I am surrounded by a succulent, fine lemon cream, yet it is not childish because such high-quality gourmandness makes it touch upon elegance. As we say: a rich custard cream is not the same as a celestial crème brûlée. Upon applying it to my skin, the first thing that comes to my nose are playful drops of citrus, neither too acidic nor too sweet, just right in the middle. After about five minutes, vanilla and musk appear hand in hand, transforming into a sumptuous and creamy vanilla. When the perfume becomes a second skin, I can imagine myself surrounded by white flowers, with orange blossom being the dominant note. Shalimar Soufflé enhances my most feminine, delicate, subtle and soft characteristics, almost ethereal; it dresses me in an almost imperceptible elegance, but you better not notice it for more than a minute or it could hypnotise you so easily. I greatly appreciate perfumes like this in these times that follow the trend but add a dusting of creativity. Shalimar Soufflé is a perfume worth the risk, because I can assure you that the more you wear it, the more you will fall in love with it. High longevity, moderate projection. Rating 8/10.

I had been longing for the original Shalimar for months, but the reformulations left me speechless and heartbroken. I thought a flanker would be a mistake, but I was wrong from the very first spray. Shalimar Soufflé is a sweet, refined, and ethereal elegance, nothing like those cloying sweets that flood the market. It is a perfect balance of citrus, vanilla, and white flowers; on my skin, it feels like a sophisticated lemon cream, far from anything childish. It begins with playful drops of citrus, then the vanilla and musk blend into a creamy second skin where neroli reigns supreme. It amplifies my feminine and subtle side, an almost imperceptible yet hypnotic elegance. It is worth the risk: the more you wear it, the more you fall in love. High longevity, moderate projection. 8/10

  • I bought this perfume alongside the Shalimar EDT and absolutely loved it. It has a super creamy and delicious scent, nothing at all like the Shalimar EDT. It opens with citrus notes before turning sweet and creamy. I find it very cosy, extremely pleasant and wearable, suitable for almost any day or occasion, although I think it suits daytime better. I would use it for the office, casual outings and semi-formal daytime events; at night, I feel it would get lost among stronger fragrances.

  • Finally, I have found the perfume with which I want people to identify me. It is beautiful, super delicate, feminine and sophisticated; it does not wish to impose or stand out, yet it achieves this despite its prudence. It is a fresh and warm, citrus and sweet, precious vanilla oriental scent. It has something talcated and something woody, all perfectly balanced like a secret potion that you will never discover what each ingredient is, yet which gives rise to this jewel. Shalimar and its flankers are undoubtedly equal to Chanel No. 5: indcipherable exotic scents. Personally, I prefer the delicacy of the Soufflé and would use it all the time, in any season, feeling always poised. It serves for events, work, romantic dates and even for sleeping. It does not tire and gives that feeling of discreet luxury, like someone who does not want people to know they are of high birth, but their manners give them away. This is Shalimar Soufflé.

  • I had to buy it blind because I could not find it in any physical store. I think it is wonderful; I have been lucky. It is delicious, nothing like the other Shalimars that I always found very strong, although I know they have many devotees. It is a very fine citrus that leaves a powdery vanilla and fresh citrus trail that reminds me a great deal of Rochas Tocade. I will compare them, but if this is the case, I will stick with Tocade. Nevertheless, it is well worth it.

  • I also bought it blind because I couldn’t find it in physical stores, and it was luck. It is wonderful and has nothing to do with the strength of other Shalimar versions that I have not liked. It is a very refined citrus that leaves a powdery and fresh vanilla, very similar to Tocade de Rochas. I will continue comparing them, but if they are alike, I will stick with Tocade. In any case, it is well worth it.

It is a more wearable and delicious version, sweet if you compare it with the classic Shalimar (but if you have very sweet tastes like me, this will not seem too intense to you). At first, a balanced and fine lemon, and without going deeper, it smells like a less intense Shalimar. It is a good modernised copy of a classic. I love it.

  • La plus belle

I have been wearing my Shalimar since its launch in 2014 and I never tire of repeating it every summer and autumn. It has become my must-have for the summer months.

After reading Jerry Drake’s review of the vintage Antaeus, I hesitated a bit before writing about this Shalimar Souffle that a sales assistant recommended to me. From the very first moment, it smells of delicacy and feminine elegance, with a creamy lemon that is subtly sweet. It reminds me of a soft lemon cake on a fine crust, perfect with tea on a rainy winter afternoon. Then come notes of the classic Shalimar, but softened: a subtle vanilla, no leather at all, a faint sandalwood, and white flowers dancing with the vanilla and lemon. After an hour, it loses a little of its distinctive personality, but it remains a very well-constructed fragrance. The only drawback is that it lasts about five hours and its projection is moderate. Ideal for women in temperate climates who want to smell of refined citrus, please without overpowering, and seduce without trying too hard. Best regards.

I do not know if I like it. Blind buy based on reviews and YouTube that described it as ‘rich lemon cake with vanilla’. For me it smells of lemony talcum powder, and too much. I cannot stand the powdery scent. I think it is suitable for spring-summer: it is discreet, feminine, and gives a sense of cleanliness. Performance is moderate. I think I will continue to try it, but at first it has not won me over.

  • Danielle_Gris

I do not know the classic Shalimar, but knowing that orientals do not work well on my skin, I tried the Soufflé. I agree with everyone that it is very sweet, but it does not smell gourmand or like dessert or lemon feet. If you are looking for that, try it first because it is a diluted oriental disguised as honeyed vanilla. It opens with an acidic lemon that seems unbalanced to me (although I adore citrus). It is saved by the bitterness of the tangerine peel that prevents it from being strident. Then classic white flowers: clean bergamot and 80s powdery jasmine, powerful due to the vanilla, but be careful, it is not from the bakery. Yes, there is a slight animal hint at the base; the musk seems fresh but a touch of pee is noticeable, from the original DNA. It is not bad and I will use it, but it is too sweet for a dressing room background.

  • ZenNatsume

I got lucky buying this blind. It is a citrus oriental that starts with refreshing lemon, bergamot, and mandarin, giving me a sense of cleanliness and comfort. Then white flowers like jasmine and neroli emerge over a background of clean white musk and a clear, fresh, and balanced vanilla. The trail and longevity are moderate, but its feminine inclination is evident. It is my first perfume with lemon and I am happy with the purchase, not to mention the bottle is beautiful.

  • ZenNatsume

Blind buy and a hit: it is a citrus oriental. Upon spraying, the refreshing lemon with bergamot and tangerine leaves me comfortable and clean. Then white flowers, jasmine, and bergamot appear, over a background of very easy-to-accept white musk, with nothing animal. Finish with clear, fresh, and balanced-sweetness vanilla. The trail and longevity are moderate, and I feel it is more feminine. It is my first perfume with lemon and I am happy, besides the bottle is beautiful.

  • This summer I did a swap of decants and this version of the legendary Shalimar arrived. Upon opening the box, it fell to the floor! The good thing about that mistake was that my house smelled of Shalimar Soufflé for a whole week. The bad thing is that I only recovered one drop from the broken tube and tried it that same day. It seemed to me a more modern and one-dimensional version than the original, but it remains a beautiful oriental with a feminine air. Although it has lemon and bergamot, I do not see it for a summer day due to that mix of musk and vanilla that makes it very warm; I would only use it in summer for a special or evening occasion. I think it would go better in temperate seasons, day or night, to make a good impression without calling too much attention. Although it is not so spicy, it reminds me of Acqua Vitae Forte by MFK, another citrus-based oriental that also fell to the floor… will my hands have something against this combination? • This perfume has been on my radar for months, torn between the allure of its notes and the fear that it might be a copy of Shalimar with its leather and civet. Upon trying it, I confirmed it is neither gourmand nor edible. The opening is citrusy and sweet with a hint of the original DNA, justifying the name ‘soufflé’. The vanilla is balsamic and ambered, very faithful to the essence of Shalimar, but it evolves quickly into powdery white flowers and a musky vanilla. It smells like makeup, like a real perfume, with no strange pretensions. It projects well and lasts a long time, even in cold weather. It is versatile: perfect for the office or evening, kind yet powerful. Although some compare it to Mon Guerlain, they are worlds apart: this is Shalimar with balsamic vanilla, while the other is resinous vanilla with lavender and iris. Totally different, and I love it.

  • I had been looking at this perfume for months, trying it and taking it off the list for fear it might be a clone of Shalimar with that strong leather and civet. Until in an exchange I managed to get half a bottle. First thing: it is not gourmand. It is sweeter and more wearable than the original, but it does not smell like dessert or lemon. Upon application, you notice sweet citrus with a trail of Shalimar, hence the name ‘soufflé’ and the idea of a cake. The sweetness comes from the bergamot and a very ambered and balsamic vanilla, almost the same as in Shalimar. For a second I thought it would be a little ‘Shalimar’, but thank goodness it is another world. With the heat of the skin it evolves into powdery white flowers and a soft musky vanilla. It is the first perfume that smells like makeup but smells like a real perfume. It does not try to be anything more than Shalimar Soufflé and I love it. With few sprays it projects and lasts a very long time. I use it in this cold weather and I feel comforted and dressed. It is super versatile, for the office and for going out at night, kind enough not to bother but with force. I am delighted. I have seen it compared with Mon Guerlain EDT, so I leave you what I put there: ‘Both are flankers of powerful perfumes, but the Soufflé is a Shalimar with its balsamic vanilla and the Mon Guerlain is another with its lavender, iris, and resinous vanilla. They are not interchangeable nor do they resemble each other olfactively.’

  • It is a puzzle of classic makeup, perhaps vintage, with citrus freshness and vanilla. A step to reach more easily the powerful and penetrating oriental classic singer that Shalimar is. It has something connected to the original and at the same time is totally different. It is toned down, refreshed, and slightly sweetened by the vanilla. A contrast worth discovering.

  • ambrelover

It smells like a base, that base on which the notes should stand out more. It is something very familiar and known, a mix of many perfumes, for men and women. It is a very well-balanced vanilla and musk, a clean, sweet, creamy, and slightly powdery scent, without being heavy or gourmand. There is floral and citrus freshness but nothing standout; everything is very amalgamated. It was not what I expected, it does not resemble the original at all, they share few notes but treated in a very different way.

  • Lizilla Rojas

I was looking for something less sweet and heavy than the EDP of Shalimar, I bought it blindly, and I regret it. On my skin, it smells bitter, I think due to the lemon and tangerine, notes that are noticeable from the start until it dries down; the vanilla is hidden and almost not felt. I wanted less cloying, but this goes to the other extreme. It does not smell sweeter than the current EDP nor the vintage, nor do they resemble each other at all. It does not suit me, it does not dress me, and I do not like it. It seems no Shalimar is for me.

  • Lizilla Rojas

I was looking for a version less sweet and heavy than the EDP, so I bought this flanker blind, trusting the reviews, but I regretted it completely. On my skin, it smells very bitter, probably due to the lemon and mandarin, a scent that persists from the opening until the perfume disappears. The vanilla is hidden and almost imperceptible. Although I wanted something less cloying, this took me to the other extreme: it is not sweeter than the EDP, they do not resemble each other at all, it does not suit me, I do not identify with it, and it is not pleasant to me. It seems no Shalimar is for me.

  • MJ_perfumes

I had been wanting to try it for a while due to the notes and reviews. I managed to get it blindly in a second-hand purchase and I have loved it. It is very different: talcum-powdery and dusty but with a soft citrus touch, nothing sweet. It reminds me of the original Shalimar without that mossy and animal touch that turns me off. Although it does not project much, it lasts a very long time, especially on clothes, and it is an elegant perfume that accompanies you softly and faithfully for hours.

  • oliendobonito

If you are obsessed with perfumes like Baker by Akro or Devotion by D&G with that retro, musky twist, this is your cup. However, do not buy it blindly, as that retro middle note might disappoint a little. It smells fresh due to the lemon, but the vanilla and musk give it a very interesting citrus sweetness. It is not a copy of Devotion or Akro; it has its own DNA and something that makes it retro (without smelling old). I know it is not for everyone, but it is super elegant, classic, feminine, and regal. Plus, it is a beast in longevity and projection.
