The name fits like a glove. It’s a mix of creamy, enveloping, airy spices, with that rare contrast of being warm and fresh at the same time. Smells of rich pepper and cardamom, with an amber base and a barely-there hint of coffee that adds depth. From a distance, it seems like those spices trapped in amber are flying with a breath of fresh air. Unlike others, it doesn’t smell of oud or patchouli; it’s Oriental but with a Western soul. If you like it, it could be a total hit. The best part is that it lasts forever and floats without being overpowering. The bottle is a shame, especially that cap and that ‘bee’s nest’ which looks like it’s from a Chinese bazaar; at 180€ it’s heartbreaking, but you can find it for half the price on the grey market. Anyway, I loved it: sensual, warm and unique, very feminine on a woman’s skin and very masculine on a man’s.
A very Oud Oud… Straight out of the bottle, it reminds me of the first version of M7, with that typical acrid and unpleasant oud smell. After a few minutes, that note disappears, leaving smoky, balsamic and spicy woods, very 2000s style but with more complexity. The first time I got instant rejection, but the more I smelled it, the more I liked it. I tried it again another day and ended up buying it. It deserves to be niche for its originality in a market saturated with oud. It’s moderate, which is a relief because otherwise it would be overwhelming. Give it a few chances, Guerlain has done a cult-worthy job.
What a delicious and brilliant thing. It’s enchanting for winter: burnt sandalwood, patchouli and pepper. Of all the Absolues d’Allegories, this one with exquisite spices and Rose Amira is the one I bought. Rich.
It’s an exquisite treat. You have to wait a couple of minutes for it to shine in all its glory. It’s woody, spicy, with a touch between talcum and creamy. Nothing aggressive, more warm and pleasant. Although they don’t put it in the official pyramid, I sense a very faint smell of incense and heather resin among the woods that gives it special character. You feel wrapped in a tender whisper. The longevity is very good and it’s totally unisex. It’s a beautiful perfume. Please, never decant it.
