Shalimar Parfum is undoubtedly the Holy Grail of Shalimar. A wonder that, fortunately, can be bought vintage and is often in perfect condition. First off, it’s best if it’s sealed, because if it’s been opened, it’s hard to say what might have escaped, and you’ll have less guarantee. Don’t skimp on the age of this celestial nectar, but do look for sealed bottles on the second-hand market at prices far better than in-store; the shop prices and age don’t match up at all with what you get. Beautiful, but it won’t be quite the same because the house has been messing about with Shalimar for a while. I love smelling it and that there’s no trace of alcohol; I’m fascinated by how I can detect every component. It’s a loyal friend: I smell it almost daily and it’s soft, velvety like baby skin. Its iris is an extinct wonder and its vanilla is the apotheosis of Guerlain. It smells animalic and caramel-like, like stroking a sweet, purring panther. If you love Shalimar and see a good deal, don’t hesitate: the bottle is a jewel and the liquid is immense.

Spectacular perfume, a true gem that, thank God, continues to delight many fans; I consider it the greatest creation in the history of perfumery. An amber note that is highly sophisticated, paired with a super voluptuous vanilla. I simply adore this legendary composition by Guerlain.
