  • Just bought Shalimar perfume, excited for it to be a jewel, but received a nasty surprise. Based on reviews, I thought it would be sweet, exquisite, and intoxicating. Instead, it smells like syrup and alcohol, almost musty. I love vintage fragrances and own several, yet this one is nowhere near pleasant. I’d love to try another bottle to see if this version is adulterated or old… I’m not sure. Let’s hope it’s just bad luck with this particular bottle. Best wishes.

  • My father gifted this perfume to my mother, along with the cream and shower gel, in a beautiful blue velvet case with a gold lid. The problem is that I have never liked it. I only smell the leather, vanilla and vetiver, and together they are unbearable. It gives me a headache if I wear it; the scent simply doesn’t agree with me. My mother has already used half the bottle and she absolutely loves it. I don’t know if I’m too young and therefore lack a taste for this type of fragrance, or if it truly doesn’t smell good. I hope my opinion changes and I can have a more positive review one day. Time will tell…

Modadicta: The most famous and expensive perfume doesn’t always please everyone. This happens with fragrances and flavours: perception is highly subjective. I adore chilli; my daughter can’t stand it. Neither of us is wrong. In my opinion, Shalimar is one of the most beautiful perfumes of all time. It is regal, exquisite, radiating beauty, strength, and dignity. But if there’s no chemistry between you and it, there’s nothing to be done. You can try again later; tastes sometimes change.

Modadicta: The most famous and expensive perfume isn’t always a favourite. That happens with fragrances and flavours alike; perception is highly subjective. I love chilli; my daughter can’t stand it. Neither of us is wrong. In my view, Shalimar is one of the most beautiful perfumes of all time. It is regal, exquisite, radiating beauty, strength and dignity. But if there is no chemistry between you, there’s no point. You can try it again later; tastes can change.

Hello everyone. My mother has an EDC she bought in the seventies and the batch code is UA15P, which doesn’t appear on checkfresh.com. Is there any other way to find out the year of manufacture, please?

  • I already own the EDP and today I tried the Eau de Cologne as my first foray into the world of Shalimar. It’s perfect for starting out: it smells intense in seconds, but quickly fades to that defining smoky vanilla dry-down. It’s a lovely, warm fragrance; I’m so glad to have it. I adore the EDP, though I confess it took some getting used to as my nose initially only picked up the animalic and leather notes. We’ll see how long this beauty lasts on the skin.
