This fragrance is very original. Generally, I find oceanic scents too unfeminine and simple, but this one is complex. I appreciate the citrus top and the musky heart. Perhaps the downside is that its longevity is very short.
Something Blue is inspired by a bride’s most special day, the wedding. Just as in some countries the tradition is to carry something red under the dress for luck, here good luck comes in blue. Hence the name. The cap has a kind of ring with the name engraved, so everything evokes a wedding: the subtle, soft and ethereal feel. However, for me it’s a floral perfume where jasmine dominates; combined with vanilla, it becomes cloying, heavy, sickly sweet and gives me a headache. Too sweet, nothing fine or elegant. When it settles on the skin it feels sticky and synthetic; it reminds me of air freshener sprays with a jasmine scent. No wonder it has had little commercial success.

It’s very fresh, floral and musky… I absolutely love it. Easy to wear any day, even in winter so far… and it’s long-lasting.
It smells very fresh, floral and musky… I absolutely love it. Easy to wear any day, so far in winter… and it lasts quite a while.
Ideal if you’re looking for something delicate but with character. It’s like a bouquet of white flowers, very feminine. It’s on the fresh side but can be worn all year round. It’s quite long-lasting. The florals stand out more than in Live in Love. The bottle and box are pretty, making it an appealing gift the moment you see it.
What a beautiful perfume! It’s a soft, citrusy and clean floral. It wears very well and is super inoffensive. Perfect for everyday wear and ideal for the office.
For me, it’s a very feminine and high-quality fragrance. It projects well and lasts about 10 hours. It’s floral, fresh, elegant and suitable for all year round. The bottle looks very pretty with a vintage style.
To me, it smells super feminine and top-quality; it projects hugely and lasts around 10 hours. It’s floral, fresh and elegant, perfect all year round. The bottle looks gorgeous with a vintage style.
It’s a jasmine nectar in a gorgeous bottle. Everything is feminine and delicate: the fragrance, the box, and the bottle, with a cap that mimics Dominican Republic’s Larimar stone, the home of my favourite designer, Oscar de la Renta, q.e.p.d. The wedding band and the name ‘Something Blue’ allude to the tradition of wearing something blue for luck on a wedding day. It has good sillage and longevity. When I bought it, it was cheap; now it costs a fortune (hopefully not because it’s being discontinued). Ideal for brides. It reminds me of Jessica McClintock’s first perfume, which I also adore for its jasmine.
My first Oscar de la Renta. I hunted for deals, spotted it, did my research and bought it. I’ve just received it and can’t stop smelling my wrist. It’s like a blend of L’eau d’Issey and Pleasures, but the flowers, especially the honeysuckle, make the difference; I didn’t know its name, but I recognise the natural scent. It’s cold here, but I can imagine it on a summer evening; in fact, I’m wearing it tomorrow. I loved it; I’m so happy that a blind buy was so spot on, at least for me.
I picked up my first Oscar de la Renta on sale and what a bargain it was. The moment I got it, I couldn’t stop smelling my wrist. It reminds me of a mix between L’eau d’Issey and Pleasures, but here the florals, especially the linden which I didn’t know was called that, take centre stage. Even though it’s cold, I imagine it on a summer afternoon. I’ll test it out tomorrow and I love it; how happy I am that a blind buy turned out so well for me.
