  A light gourmand for everyday wear, I would define this Arquiste perfume: it blends three contrasts of sweetness, acidity, and toasty notes. It is pleasant to combine the vanilla with the freshness and acidity of lemon, while in the background, there is a smoky scent of woods and bitter plant aromas. It recalls vanilla custard desserts with egg, but in a subtle way, without going fully gourmand. I like its behaviour on the skin and its versatility; it is light, nothing cloying, with nothing sticky or heavy. It is a scent that floats, presenting itself politely without being intrusive, pleasing and appearing neat. It is a bit deceptive because it seems not very dense and is about to disappear, yet it stays with you for almost half a day, lingering close to the skin until night. Arquiste seduces me again with good ingredient quality, without transgressive adventures, just well-worked concepts. I have really enjoyed The Architects Club and it leaves me wanting to try more.

  If I were blindfolded and sprayed with both, it would take me a moment to tell Arch Club apart from Dyptique’s Archiste Eau duelle (EDT); they are so similar on my skin it’s incredible. I adore both, but I admit I look better in one. After finishing bottles of both, my definitive choice is Dyptique’s Eau duelle EDP. It will be my vanilla for ever, not only because it fascinates me but because the memories of discovering it on a trip to the French Alps are incredibly evocative. Always try and judge according to your own taste.
