  Tonkade by Laboratorio Olfattivo caught me off guard with that dense, nuanced sweetness. Clearly the tonka bean takes the lead, but it blends with sweet woods, vanilla, and spices that soften over time. Then a creamy, almost milky note enters, giving it a cosy, gourmand touch. Sometimes I think of Mugler’s Pure Tonka, but without the coffee that makes it perfect, or Montale’s Chocolate Greedy for that gourmand vibe, though overall it smells very original. It’s delicious, evolves well, and has good quality. I see it as ideal for cold weather, unisex, and special occasions, more for night than day, and it lasts a long time. Anyway, it’s a fragrance that should be tried alongside Nerotic, which for now are the best from the brand. Rating: 8.5/10

Then a creamy, milky note enters, giving it warmth and a gourmand touch. Sometimes it reminds me of Mugler’s Pure Tonka, but without the coffee that makes it so good, and it recalls Montale’s Chocolate Greedy a bit for that clubby vibe, though overall it smells very original. It’s a delicious scent that evolves and is of good quality. I see it as perfect for cold weather, unisex, and going out, more for night than day, and it lasts a very long time. Anyway, it’s a fragrance that should be tried alongside Nerotic, which for now are the best from the brand. Rating: 8.5/10

  Pure essence of tonka bean. A deep, warm, and complex sweetness, intricately woven. An aroma that recalls cacao seeds and vanilla, emanating that purity of sweet ingredients by definition, untreated and unsynthesised. The base of these sweet seeds as the protagonists combines brilliantly with cashmere and vanilla, creating a 99% tonka bean tablet.

  Very refined scent. I like it, but I don’t detect any tonka bean at all. To me, it’s a woody and spicy aroma, with nothing sweet or vanilla-like, which I didn’t expect. It’s okay; it smells like a typical MUJI essential oil diffuser, a very Asian room fragrance scent. It’s fine, but for my home, not for wearing on myself.

  Tonkade is proof that niche is not the same as commercial: classic notes that truly shine. A perfect balance between warmth and a dry, deep, elegant sweetness. Warm, enveloping, and very pleasant, it’s a joy to wear. It begins with exquisite cardamom that lasts a long time, followed by tonka bean and a dark vanilla, closing with a resinous incense that is far from ceremonial. Each phase is distinct yet follows the same underlying theme. It smells masculine on men and feminine on women, which is curious. Good longevity (over 7 hours), decent projection (2 hours), and it lasts forever on skin and clothes. It’s noticeable without being heavy. Ideal for special occasions or everyday wear, to please and feel good. Day and night in autumn and winter. Spectacular atomiser, perfect bottle, and great price. I used a 2ml vial and bought it without hesitation. A masterpiece from Laboratorio Olfattivo.
