Born and brought up in Thailand, Pissara “Ploi” Umavijani grew up in a home full of books, poetry, and artistic inspiration. Her father, Montri Umavijani (1941-2006), was a well-known Thai poet whose work significantly influenced Pissara’s passion for fragrances. As a young artist, she began to create perfumes, combining rare and precious scents, and dreamed of opening her own ‘Maison de Parfum’.
In 2011, Pissara took her dreams and creations to Paris, where she learned the science of fragrances autodidactically. Determined to succeed, she continued developing her first collection of exclusive aromas in collaboration with a prominent fragrance production house in Grasse, the world capital of perfume.
Pissara’s vision came to life with the launch of Parfums Dusita in 2016, making her France’s most recent Maison de Haute Parfumerie. The brand’s fragrances are olfactory tributes to her father’s poetry, blending the sophistication of classic French perfumery with the traditional Siamese elegance found in aromatic treasures from Thailand, such as rose, jasmine, benzoin, beeswax, bergamot and sandalwood.
Her fragrances, awarded and acclaimed internationally, are further enriched with boldly creative and contemporary touches, which make them both current and timeless. Pissara’s unique signature can be detected in every Parfums Dusita creation, embodying the celestial paradise ‘Dusita’ that her father’s poetry often spoke about.
Pissara Umavijani’s passion for perfume is deeply rooted in her love for her father’s poetry and her desire to connect with others through scent. Her creations aim to “create radiant, beautifully unforgettable fragrances that showcase raw materials of the very highest quality, with a truly deep and profound emotional impact”.
Her dedication and talent have resulted in a successful brand that celebrates the fusion of two cultures, appealing to the senses and the intellect, and evoking realms of earthly happiness and sublimity.
