  1. The opening is slightly bitter due to the violet leaf, and you might judge it unfairly based on that first impression (happens to me too)… but by the second or third wear, oh surprise, a warm, slightly powdery rose begins to emerge alongside the underlying iris. I don’t feel the iris trying to dominate; rather, it accompanies the rose with every breeze. Ideal for mild, fresh weather, excellent quality in its ingredients.

In my search for the perfect iris, I had to try it, and after testing a decant in various climates, I must say it’s not to my taste. What dominates on my skin is the violet, which isn’t a scent I enjoy, especially the violet leaf with its herbal and green notes. Here, the iris merely accompanies it, in an earthy and slightly woody way, softening it as it dries down. No sweetness whatsoever. I haven’t smelled it like this before. I find it a classic perfume with an air of ‘the old days’; I’m not saying it’s vintage, but it does remind me of another era, and I doubt it would appeal to someone very young. Not a good blind buy; I advise testing it first.
