  • Tobacco, flowers, and tonka bean. I took a while to realise why I’m so hooked on it. Upon application, it smells like that unfiltered light tobacco sold in Spain in the early 80s, the Bisonte; it has brought me nostalgia and taken me back to my childhood, so my opinion is more subjective than usual. The opening is potent, with that amplified tobacco softened by a gentle pine, a touch of sandalwood or leather, and some green herb I can’t quite identify. As time passes, once the tonka bean emerges, it softens and becomes rich, sensual, mature, and evocative. It’s perfect for smokers, as it gives a special touch to everyday tobacco. I see it as the scent of someone mature (not in age, but in character), calm and full of personality. For me, it’s unisex. Although I don’t smoke, I love it. Projection is high for the first four hours, reaches a metre for another two, and then stays on the skin for eight more. It’s a pure fragrance for those with personality who want to be noticed. It’s my perfect signature cologne. Rating: 8.5. Would I buy it: Yes.

  • Issara is an elegant, modern, and easy-to-wear fougère. The opening is intriguing: bubbly and creamy, with sweet tobacco balancing a slightly bitter sage. A natural pine, not overly vibrant, adds just enough wood to give it body without being excessively sweet. After about 15 minutes, that creamy, bitter sensation fades. Unlike Herod by Parfums de Marly (tobacco with vanilla), here the tobacco is sweetened with tonka bean and amber, resulting in a more mature and complete fragrance that integrates classic fougère elements. An alcoholic vetiver refreshes the heart, creating a green contrast with the musk, although the tobacco remains dominant, adding a honeyed touch. The base is a warm tobacco due to the amber; projection drops but remains noticeable. In the end, it leaves a skin scent, like shaving foam. It’s addictive because it invites constant sniffing. Ideal for fresh or cold days. Projects to a metre for two hours and lasts seven hours.
