Descripción
Serpentine by Roberto Cavalli is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2005, the nose behind this composition is Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. The top notes reveal mango blossom, mandarin, Tahitian tiare and absinth; the heart unfolds frangipani, tiare flower, pepper and violet leaves; while the base notes settle on amber, balsam of Peru and sandalwood.

I imagined it differently. It is wearable, but it smells like a straight line from the mango to a shy balsam of Peru, going nowhere and giving no emotion, despite having distinctive notes. What is between the two? A touch of faint mandarin, sandalwood, amber, and tiare, which is what smells most in the floral blend. I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s fine and the fixation is good, although the trail is moderate to scarce. I see it well for hot days or summer holidays, in arid environments where it is comfortable and elegant, with a certain sensuality for relaxed evening events. Looking for soft and light perfumes? Try it. Edit: Although I said it was flat, I liked it. I plan to reconsider it, I suspect I could like it.
I’ve tested it again and I liked it more :D. I noticed the mango flower better and the fantastic creaminess of the tiare. A pleasant combination that, along with the rest, forms an interesting composition (although I still see it as a bit flat). Yes, I will give it another chance.
Here is my third opinion. Now that I have the bottle, it’s fair to say: it is pleasant for warm climates, especially at night. It has a sexy ‘I don’t know what’ that men love. The base does its job, blends with my skin, and gives a warm, floral, amber sweetness. The fixation is good, although in the last hours (8-12h) it stays close to the skin. I won’t repeat the notes, but it’s like a pleasant walk towards a warm, breezy sunset in a quiet place, according to Cavallier’s imagination. It reminds me a bit of Absolu de Rochas and Cinema by YSL.
I bought it recently and it is divine. I really love the mandarin and that musky scent. In fact, I feel it is unisex.
It happened to me too. I absolutely love Jacques Cavallier; he has done wonders with creations like Trouble or Poème, but this one smells like nothing at all, I don’t even know what it is. Total disappointment, I wouldn’t recommend it.
Seen and not seen. Wanted it, had it, and lost it all in one day. My sister gifted it to me and took it back immediately. Although I like Cavallier’s creations, they need warmth to take off on the skin. Serpentine is too soft for me. It’s not bad, it’s pleasant, but it lacks something. It starts with sweet mango and green mandarin, tropical fruits with flowers like tiare and frangipani, very creamy gardenias. I miss a little bit of coconut to be perfect. In the base, there is a buttery amber vanilla from the sandalwood. Soft power and moderate longevity. Like all Cavallier, it is feminine, intoxicating, and sensual. Warm and tender, it embraces you like a soft silk shawl. The bottle with snakes that seem to emerge from the glass evokes hypnosis; they aren’t aggressive, but they kill you with sweetness. To me, they look like silk worms in cocoons waiting for spring. I tested it in winter and could barely notice it, I think that’s the flaw. Using it out of season, but temptation won. I’ve kept a sample for summer nights. Bicycles are for the summer, and so is Serpentine.
I bought it because a friend who is a perfume expert recommended it, even though it has already been discontinued. However, it has been a disappointment. The market doesn’t suffer from this, but the fragrance is barely perceptible; you have to apply a huge amount to smell it a little, which stresses me out. On the first day, without being accustomed to it, it was hardly noticeable close to the skin. The scent is muted, with a spiced note from another era and doesn’t attract attention at all. It’s faint flowers, sandalwood, and some spices with no projection or trail.
A friend who is a perfume expert recommended it to me, although it’s no longer sold. To be honest, it’s been a bit of a fiasco. The market doesn’t miss it, but this one is very weak; you have to apply it like crazy to feel anything, which stresses me out. At first, I could barely smell it on my skin. The scent is muted, with a spiced touch from another era that doesn’t call for anything. Faint flowers, sandalwood, and spices with no projection or trail.
I’m smitten. Soft, yes, but with an elegant, light air that is simply enchanting.
It suits me brilliantly. It is soft, yes, but smells elegant and light.
