If you’re a leather enthusiast, you simply cannot miss this gem: Le Vestiaire – Cuir de YSL (2016), from the Le Vestiaire des Parfum Collection de Nuit range. It opens with a stunning burst of fine wood, enveloping and bright rum that leaves you breathless, momentarily recalling Amouage’s Jubilation due to its guaiac wood. Then comes a realistic, sober, and elegant tobacco note, but that’s merely the prologue. A few minutes later, the star emerges: a leather that is both brilliant and sober, exquisite and surprising for its boldness, modernity, and masculinity. Upon smelling it, I imagine a flawless tuxedo or a man in jeans and a leather jacket in a bar; it fits perfectly for any occasion and fails to leave anyone indifferent. The performance is excellent. Perhaps the 125ml bottle is pricey, but it is a luxury well worth it. I’ve been smitten since I first smelled it straight from the bottle. Scent: 10, Sillage/Projection: 9, Longevity: 8.5.
