Descripción

Rabanne's Olympéa Onyx Collector Edition is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2020, this composition was created by Loc Dong, Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion. In its opening, the scent unfolds with water jasmine, ginger and green mandarin; the heart reveals a combination of vanilla and salt; while the base settles on ambergris, cashmere wood and sandalwood.

Top fragrance, but watch out: it smells almost identical to the Intense. If you don’t own the Intense, buy it; if you do, this adds nothing new. Both are good. I didn’t like the Legend; it was too cloying; this one is strong but without that horrible liquor note of the Legend. The longevity is excellent, as with the entire line.

I don’t know why, I’ve just seen it. I wanted a black Olympea bottle and, oh surprise, I found this. I detect notes similar to the classic before it was reformulated; I hope it’s as good as that because it’s what I’ve been searching for for some time.

  • Another successful blind buy! It’s incredibly versatile; I wear it day and night, in all seasons. It has an elegant touch and I’d say it’s unisex: sensual but not extremely feminine. I don’t have the original Olympea as it’s become too mainstream; I’ve always preferred its flankers. The only one I didn’t like was the Legend; it’s too alcoholic and breaks the style. Onyx follows the thread of the original and the Intense (I own the latter; it’s warmer, sweeter and heavier, I wouldn’t wear it in summer). Onyx is more volatile and softer. The aquatic jasmine is noticeable, less salty, with a refreshing and clean note, though the citrus aren’t as evident as in the original. Everything is well-blended without anything overpowering another. There’s an amber touch without being overwhelming, just to add warmth. I don’t think it will bother anyone. It has good trail and longevity which surprised me, lasting longer than the Intense. It’s a lovely rose, ideal for any time, tempting to smell and it envelops you like a perfect cloud. I put it on every morning. What a treat! It seems fashions are changing and moving away from the tedious fruity-chouls trend. I’m glad!
